Spin the Wheel: Sealed Draw

Every wheel app asks you to trust it. This one hands you the arithmetic. Before anything spins, Spin the Wheel commits to the draw: it generates a secret number, hashes it together with your list of names, and prints that hash on the hub for the whole room to see. Anyone can type a challenge word into it — a word the app could not have known in advance, and one that helps decide the result. After the wheel stops, the secret is revealed, and the hash proves it was fixed all along and could not have been swapped for one that suited the winner. You get a receipt for every draw. It carries the commitment, the revealed seed, the challenge word, the entry list and a short recipe you can run on any computer with shasum and four lines of Python. Nothing about checking a draw depends on this app being honest, or even on this app still being installed. CHOSEN PROPERLY, NOT JUST ANIMATED Most wheels simulate physics and read off whatever comes up. That only looks random: the final angle follows from the starting angle and the flick, so a practised push lands in the same place, and the wheel starts where the last spin stopped — so consecutive draws are related. Here the winner is chosen first, by a cryptographic generator using rejection sampling rather than a remainder (a remainder quietly gives the first few entries an extra share), and the wheel is then animated to land on it. Before any name is announced, the app reads the winner back off the wheel it just drew, so what the room sees is always what is announced. ONE SPIN, ONE NAME Add names, spin, get an answer. Sit someone out for a round without deleting them. Turn on cycle mode and each winner steps out until everyone has had a turn.
