About

Settling a table in Canada means getting the sales tax right, and the sales tax is different in every province. Split & Tax knows all thirteen. Pick where you are. The correct 2026 rate is applied for you, whether that is GST alone, GST with a provincial tax on top, HST, or the GST and QST combination in Quebec. Add the tip the way you tip. Divide the table. The number each person owes is right to the cent. WHAT YOU CAN DO - Choose from all ten provinces and all three territories, each with its own correct 2026 rate. - Add tax to a pre-tax amount, or work backward and pull the tax out of a total that already includes it. - Tip on the pre-tax amount or on the after-tax amount, whichever way you do it, at any percentage you like. - Split between any number of people, and round each share up if you would rather nobody has to find a penny. - See the base, the tax, the tip and the total on separate lines, with GST and QST or PST shown apart in the provinces that charge both. - Save the result, pin the ones you keep, and share a clean breakdown so the table can settle up. - Use the whole app in English or in French. WHY IT IS NOT ONE RATE GST is five percent nationally. Ontario, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia charge HST instead, at three different rates between them. British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan add a provincial tax on top of GST, at seven percent in the first two and six in the third. Quebec adds QST at 9.975 percent. Alberta and all three territories charge GST alone. A single rate is wrong nearly everywhere. WHO IT IS FOR Group dinners, road trips across a provincial line, office lunches, anyone who moved and has not learned the new rate yet, and anyone who has ever had to explain that no, the total is not the menu price. PRIVACY Split & Tax makes no network requests. There is no account, no sign up and no cloud. Everything stays on your phone. Rates are the 2026 sales tax rates for each province and territory and are applied to the amount you enter. Some goods and services are taxed differently or not at all, so check your receipt if a figure looks off.
