Constant error messages
This app used to work fairly well for me, apart from the occasional logging out for now reason. But for the past month or so I can’t access my current loans so can’t renew books or see when they are due. The app desperately needs updates to fix this!
Bug in renewing a book
Not so much a review more a bug report. My library card was about to expire and I tried to renew a book I was reading. The renewal failed because the date for the extension was after my card expired. After getting my card renewed I then tried to extend the book, but that failed because the app declared that I had already renewed the book yet the return date was still the original date for return. End result I could not extend the loan on the book and took it back to the library.

Mostly good
The app mostly works OK except that for many weeks now, I get an error when trying to view my current loans. I can access other functions of the app, but I cannot view what's on loan and what is due back. I've spoken to librarians who say no one else has complained about this. And yet it still doesn't work for me. Fix it please?

Unpredictably useless
Whenever I try to see my current loans I get this error message: “There was a problem connecting to the server.
Please check your network connection or try again later. (Network error: error)”. The other functions seem to work ok.

Needs an update
Trying to add my library card barcode to Apple Wallet because when you click on ‘barcode’ in the app it often freezes and doesn’t display. Can’t find link in app to “add to Wallet”. “Reserve” link also didn’t proceed to “Confirm reserve” option. Had to force close on App several times to get it to do different functions.

Update please!
This App is so dysfunctional. Times out, gives odd error messages and constantly needs rebooting. Features are nice and simple - when they work.
Download Spydus Library Instead!
As another review said this spydus mobile version isn't working anymore but I downloaded spydus library and can now access my library online 🙌

Please libraries continue to support this version. The new Spydus Library is utter rubbish compared to this version.
Won’t let me log in
I’ve deleted the app as it won’t let me log in. Keeps saying server error. Annoying!!
Discontinued
So this suddenly stopped working for me. After deleting and reinstalling, it wouldn’t find my library. A quick google search told me this (Spydus Mobile) was now being replaced by Spydus Library. Comms from libraries could’ve been better. But I downloaded that, and it works. Hope this helps someone!!

South Lanarkshire library has disappeared for no reason thus the app has stopped working

Not accessible on iPad
Never had a problem with previous apps. When I try to login it says “invalid name or password” on iPad. But perfectly ok on iPhone. I prefer to use it on iPad as the screen is bigger
Cannot log into account
Followed instructions from local librarian, but none of the branches here in the area are shown
Password Issue
App seems to work fine, had my recent loan recorded. Only fly in the ointment was the login. It asks for your password (don’t remember) logged into desktop account and nowhere to reset password. Tried my pin in the password box and it worked. Once this was figured out login worked.
Just painful
Such a slow and unwieldy app. Then when you find a book, the available locations are from an entirely different region to your selected library location. Completely undermines the good work that goes on at the libraries, making it impossible to use the services provided remotely. Such a shame and a tragic cost to tax payers that they can’t make these basic functions work. This app seems at complete odds with the library services’ goal of accessibility.

This app needs love desperately
I can’t work out why public libraries insist on using this app when it barely works. It constantly logs you out for no reason and almost every time you try and do any function that isn’t browsing it tells you there is a network error and logs you out again! It’s so frustrating. All I want to use this for is to reserve books from the library but it just can’t handle it for some reason.
I see by the reviews I’m not the only one that’s having issues with this app and it looks like it’s been an ongoing thing for the last few years Why can’t you work on improving the app?

Too many error messages
E.g. this time, login insists on branch selection but results in network error alerts
Does nothing
App is useless. No longer able to check when my books are due back or access barcode to check out or in. Just direct people to the website and save everyone the time wasted on this useless app
Useful
I find it useful to have a virtual library card on my phone, as it is always with me and I can pop in to the library on an unplanned visit. I can also easily renew books and check when they are due back. I use the spydus website for anything more complex.
