About
A community-based, comprehensive, multi-disciplinary Center for Weight Management (CWM) at South Shore Medical Center’s (SSMC) Norwell, MA location. The Center offers programs for the non-surgical, medical management of obesity, delivered by physicians, advanced care clinicians, and registered dietitians, and designed for adult patients (18 years and older), with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or greater.
Medical weight loss options include—a 12-week comprehensive lifestyle, nutrition, and exercise program; low-calorie meal replacement programs; weight loss medication if deemed appropriate; and long-term, ongoing support, and education. A referral to South Shore Medical Center’s CWM is required.
A patient’s first visit to the CWM consists of two, back-to-back consultations—with a registered dietitian and an obesity medicine physician or advanced care provider. During these initial consultations, patients will learn more about the different program options and work with clinicians to determine the most appropriate treatment options.
