Cannot sign in

The app periodically signs me out and the last time this happened it asked me to sign in, again, with my Microsoft live account but this time it denied access although this is the same account I have used since downloading the app in 2023. The app should not be contingent on a Microsoft account. Now I have no access to any of the information utilised by the school. My computer scientist husband says the error is on the school/ app side and he is also receiving the same error/ unable to sign into the app after being signed out.
