About

Stagehand is a ChordPro chart reader for iPhone and iPad. Charts live on your device. There is no account and no cloud we run. Transpose and capo are stored separately and combined only when the chart is drawn, so sounding G with capo 3 still fingers E. Import ChordPro, text and PDF, organize libraries and sets; and send a slide to an external display when you need it. Stagehand can play a backing pad in the key you are singing, and a practice track you attach to a song. Pads follow the chart or stay on a key you pick. Tracks are tagged by key and start only when you tap play. Your files stay on the iPad. The app does not include any audio of its own. Stagehand reads Arabic and other right-to-left charts: each line is drawn in the direction it is written, so one chart can mix English and Arabic, and chords sit over the letters they belong to.

What's New in Stagehand

1.4.0

October 22, 2026

New in 1.4 Arabic and right-to-left charts • Charts are drawn in the direction they are written. A song that is mostly English with an Arabic section shows that section right to left, and an Arabic song with an English tag shows the tag left to right. • Chords sit over the letter they belong to in Arabic words, and the whole chord name is shown. A row of intro chords reads from the right. • An English phrase inside an Arabic line still reads left to right. Arabic section labels such as كوبليه and لازمة are recognised. • Add {direction: rtl} to a chart to force a whole chart right to left. • The projector and the chart editor follow the same rules. Web console • The chart editor shows a live preview drawn by the iPad, so it matches the reader. • Drag the dividers to resize the library, the song table, the editor and the preview. Fixes • Pads: when the song changed key, the old pad dropped out suddenly and then faded back in beside the new one. It now fades out smoothly while the new pad fades in, and a key change in the middle of a fade carries on from where it was.
