Don’t bother
Ordered this for Christmas. Charged the probe as per the instructions. Downloaded app for iPhone and per instructions. Opened app and it paired once. Shut down app and opened it the next day. Would not/could not find the probe. Deleted app and reloaded. Same issue. Returning this asap.

Do not buy - straight to jail
It’s difficult to explain how terrible the app is. But it is truly useless, and it makes the entire product useless as well.
You do NOT simply sync your phone to the thermometer. They want you to set up a second phone as a repeater, whatever that means, then send the signal to the second phone. So you need two phones to use this thing.

Worthless
DO NOT BUY!! Will not pair with an iPhone. Instructions reference a repeater. What is a repeater? Do I have to buy something else? I have a probe, I have a case/charger, I have a USB cord. It scans for a repeater but never finds one. It appears I have a worthless $90 metal stick unless I have a repeater. Store I purchased from is 45 minutes away but this $90 stick will need to be returned. Buying without reading reviews was a big mistake.

Horrible app design renders the Stake useless
Purchased this thermometer from Sur La Table with high hopes.
With a $90 price tag I expected the app to do the bare minimum - to pair with the device and show me the temperature of my meat in real time.
First of all, why was it so hard to even find the right app to download?! How is it not linked directly on the site??!
Second of all, I’ve tried using this 5 times and the app only detected the device once. The instructions to connect the app to the device looks like it was written by someone who only codes. “Direct link to Stake and
Repeat the signal out”. WHAT?!
This is NOT user error. I literally build websites and apps for a living and this made zero sense. These positive reviews were definitely written by fake purchasers.
This is getting returned immediately and I will also write a review to Sur La Table so they stop carrying this device.
Very unfortunate considering the design of the Stake itself is very slick, but the terrible app makes it totally useless.

Love the ease
I used it for the first time this Thanksgiving on our Turkey. It worked great. Only issue was the range or line of sight as I left the kitchen. Once I reentered the kitchen the app picked it right up.

“Target temp” slider does not work whatsoever
It is legitimately impossible to try and set a target temp for your probe. One of the most counterintuitive unresponsive lackluster apps I’ve ever used. Honestly what the hell.
