It works, just learn how to use

It does work, try to use it on your computer, it’s hard to work it on a smartphone. The crop tool really helps. I compared a Superb 98 from PSE and the app gave it a 93, pretty closed. However, this tool is a guide for you to identify those worth sending to be professionally grade.
I do recommend the developer to include the arrows on the keyboard and the ability to move the bars (both violet and yellow) as a whole. Also a magnifying glass and improvement on the sharpness of the image when loaded into the app.
It’s very very affordable compared to other tools that you will end up sending the stamps to be graded anyway.
You can print a certificate using this app on the computer, that way you can keep records of the stamps and add some order to your collection.
I hope this helps!

A must have if you collect stamps

Gives very accurate perforation values, both for scanned and photographed stamps. I prefer to scan my stamps and then analyse them, as I find this easier. The app is also very useful for determining the stamp centering.

Not helpful for us stamps

Interesting. No template for US stamps. Perforations display unhelpful. Sorry. Thought it had potential: it’s getting harder for me to see perforation on scale, though this would help. Have not tried coin templates, so I can’t speak to that.

Response from developer

You should at least try to understand how the App works before writing your review.. How did you determine that there should be a separate template for US stamps? There is only one template for ALL world-wide stamps, including US stamps. In the current version, You can either use the circle Template or coins when photographing stamps. To photograph the stamp, you simply place the stamp and your selected coin or printed template on a black background and take photo . The app will analyze the stamp and provide the results. We also did not understand your other comment "it’s getting harder for me to see perforation on scale" Please let us know what you mean by this so that we can help you out. Terrific customer service!

I really like this app. I recently had an issue with downloading photos and contacted customer service. It was late Saturday night. I got a replay in 5 minutes and over the next half hour 2-3 more emails and screen shots to fix the problem. I have never experienced better customer service and highly recommend this app!

Waste of time

Tried it on a 15x14 perf stamp, first time it reported 30x100 second time imperf

Terrific App

It took me about ten minutes to fully master it but it was well worth it. I use a 2€ coin and the results are as advertised. Of course a heavy cancel or margin selvage will have a negative effect but you should get sufficient data to identify the stamp. The only way to improve this App would be to come up with a color identification feature. This software is well worth the $5.00.

Amazing accuracy

I have found this app incredibly accurate in measuring both perforations and frame dimensions of a stamp.
The app now includes a measuring feature that I have found accurate to .1 mm. I scanned multiple millimeter devices at 600dpi ... then cropped 25mm sections and measured with this app. The results were dead on at 25mm.
I prefer to scan multiple stamps at 600dpi ... Photographing with a coin works just fine.

Great App and Support

This is a must have for any stamp collector. It takes all the guess work out of grading your collection. The support is excellent too.

It’s okay, could be better

The camera is a bit fussy and doesn’t like stamps on a white background.

Good recognition, but the result is saved in a PDF. Ideally it would be great if the results could be saved in a listed inventory.

PDF file any chance you could include the name of the stamp in the PDF? Shows info on the analyser screen, but not on the PDF, which is sort of the most important bit.

Struggle to success

I assumed I would be able to simply photograph my stamps and get a fast read on the perforations. It does work with photographing, provided you get the QR symbol from the developer web site which I missed on the first go-around. The app developer was most kind and stayed with me through success. To get the accuracy I desired it is essential to scan the stamps, not simply photograph them. Obviously, dpi setting on the scanner must coincide with the app dpi setting. This should occur automatically of you have scanned properly. Because you have to know how to use your scanner and its related software, and if you are a novice like me, be prepared to invest a few hours fiddling around with it before you can reliably use the scans with the app. With that done, the app performs great. Rashid, the developer, takes customer support to a new level. Thanks Rashid

Cannot get refund; app is not useful

Don't waste your $5

Response from developer

Dear Serge, Please contact us at rakium.com for a refund. It would also be helpful to know what the issue is. In many cases the problems can be sorted out once we know what they are. Thanks

Awesome

I used the Stamp Analyser to grade my scanned stamps. The results were really marvellous. Totally worth it.

Lousy & Limited

Great idea but poorly functioning. While I'm all for simplicity, $30 seems steep for something so limited. It's main function is to grade stamps by analyzing a photo or scan of a stamp. Unfortunately after several photos, it finally kind of got it close. It allows you to move the orange bars but not the blue...which is problematic. Even with scanned images or images taken with a good camera are analyses poorly.

Cool idea, but it rarely gets it right. Hopefully the desktop/computer version of this does a better job. Will be seeking a refund.

Stamp Analyser

I just purchased the Stamp Analyser software from Rakium, Inc. I had inherited my Dad's stamp collection and realized after just a little research that being able to accurately measure the perforations of stamps would be critical to knowing which specific stamp I was looking at. I ordered a perforation gauge but grew frustrated right away with no confidence in my results. Researching the internet for software that could eliminate the frustration and add confidence in the measurement, I came across a few options. I chose the Stamp Analyser because of its superior ease of use with Apple products. Getting started as a newbie to philately and not too tech savvy, I had some questions about how I would be using the software. I wrote to the email address offered for support and heard back in short order . All my questions were answered thoroughly and I am a fan!!!! Would recommend to all collectors. And most users will will be up and running after just a brief reading of the details on the website. Excellent functionality with just a scanner and an Ipad or or your IPhone or use your Mac...
