Great SHMUP

Great retro styled shmup with engaging gameplay

Audio

I have settings, but no audio options? Do I really want to hear that one audio confirmation chime 5 times before starting a game?

Overall I like the retro style game but it’s a bit frustrating at times (due to difficulty, Lowe health and high damage. Your airplane is practically made out of cardboard paper) shouldn’t there be a difficulty option?

I would give it a 5-star but there’s some basic stuff missing

Disappointed.

The controls are wonky, rendering this game broken. I wish I could get a refund.

Great style, horrible controls

Great retro game with awesomely crafted cut-scenes. However, the controls make this game pretty unplayable. Similar games in this genre allow the player to auto-fire their weapons, requiring only one finger to steer the ship, but this game requires one finger to steer, and second finger to fire your weapons. Not very convenient on a tiny iPhone. I guess the game is only $.99, so I guess what you get what you pay for. My recommendation would be to spend a little bit more money and buy a similar game that’s actually has the controls thought out.

Nice art and old school arcade gameplay

Really nice and fun game overall. I cannot understate how much I love arcade style shmup, and this game delivers, compared to many freemium at the appstore that I’ll never touch.
The voice over still has some room for improvement, but for $1 game, I’m not complaining. Good job dev!

Great game

I really enjoyed playing this game. The gameplay, the art, the music, and story where all very well done! Please continue to make great games like this.

Also any possibility of a console/PC release? When it comes to smups I just have a need for a controller / joystick.

Top notch Game 👍

I love this Game and the Art work is amazing ! I highly recommend it !

Great

Great game. Downloaded after seeing the game featured on RetroRGB’s YouTube channel.

Shoot 'em up heaven!!!

If you love the classic shoot me style games and want something fresh, then this is the game for you.

Awesome game.

Really enjoy this game. Good for quick bouts at the bus stop and longer sessions on the sofa after work. Beautiful design and color. I found the controls easy to navigate which helped immerse me in the experience. Intuitive yet challenging. Five stars!

Fantastic retro style shmup with no gimmicks

This game just exudes style and reminds me of classic space cartoons like robotech/macross, Voltron. The 16-bit look is great with nicely voiced cutscenes and a great soundtrack. If this game had a cabinet back in the days, I would have put a lot of quarters in!

Awesome idea lots of bugs

When you die the first time and restart you can't fire any bullets at all, you just keep restarting and no bullets ever fire.

I absolutely love that it was built on the iPad though

Solid Game

I really dig the art direction, and the controls are very intuitive, which is something you can’t say about many mobile shmups. Very well put together.

Classic Styled Fun

Great pixel art and level design taking you back to the days of arcades and consoles past. Fantastic little cut screen bonuses just ooze how much a labor of love this game is. Well thought out control options, visual options, etc also make this game stand out from other mobile shooters.

Amazing!!!!

This game reminds me of one of those 80s Saturday morning cartoons. Great artwork mixed with fun shmup gameplay. Definitely recommend this one!!!!

I love this game!

StarSceptre is beautiful. The storyline is great and clearly explains the existence of infinite lives. The characters remind me of Robotech; the protagonist harkens back to Rick Hunter and though the female lead looks more like Ling Ming-mei, she is more like Lisa Hayes. The controls are smooth and perfectly adapted to touch and tilt. Finally the developer is approachable and responsive. StarSceptre is a wonderful experience, you’ll not be disappointed.

Amazing game!!

This game is very well made. Graphic and game play. It's even more amazing to know that it's developed entirely in Codea. That's incredible.

Why 5 Stars?

From the art style to the gameplay this game screams of a fun and premium experience. The developer also listens to his players and there are options to play the game using cool tilt controls OR a really nicely done on screen joystick. There are options for pretty much every aspect of gameplay so you can set it up how you'd like to play. The gameplay itself is intense and gives you that Arcade, one more go, feel to it. It's a shmup but it's not your average one. Your co pilot has a sceptre that can turn back time when you get blown up lol. You can do loops to get out of bad situations. There are so many different power ups as well. It's just a really fun experience. It is absolutely worth its price. Thank you dev for a fun game and for a premium experience. We need to support devs like this who choose not to go the freemium route.

Fantastic

Authentic arcade action. Tons of fun!

Codea Rules / Awesome Game

Every since I saw the post on Touch Arcade with the teaser trailer I was sold. Then reading it was made on ipad with Codea, what?! I have not programming experience or maybe I can do it to!

I have some recommendations: pause button, switch between infinite lives and a set number of lives makes more of a challenge. And yes found the secret code area, the contra code works😜

Great work.
