Amazing learning app
The StartDOT app is great! The teaching approach is easy for our kids to follow and it is great for learning letters and numbers. We have four children and all of them have learned from the StartDOT app. I recommend it to any parent who wants to help their children master their handwriting!
Nice but missing major features
As an OT this app is very useful for progress monitoring for individual kids. BUT, a major disappointment is that you can not choose letters out of order. This is a major oversight to be relegated to having a child have to run through random letters that they may have mastered already. Second concern is that there is not a left handed mode because those children form letters such as Ts from the opposite corner as a right handed child. This app would be 5 stars with these features added.

Wonderful app
This app is outstanding for teaching kids the correct letter and number formation in a fun and memorable way. I love how there are options to learn the letters in a structured sequence with easiest letters first. Or you can choose the ABC order to select any letter or number. Highly recommended for OTs, preschool and Kindergarten teachers and families of kids learning to write.

We love this app. I bought it for my 4 year old and she loves working with it. I love that she's learning important skills as she "plays" I would highly recommend it to any parent wanting an app to help their young child develop their handwriting skills!

Great handwriting app!
Handwriting can be hard to grasp for some kids - not to mention boring! This app creatively uses colorful pictures and fun stories to aid in letter formation - which as a speech pathologist - I fully appreciate! My daughter loves to practice her "writing" with this app and I've noticed great carry over when she is using a pencil / paper! This app is a must for kids learning to write!

I absolutely LOVE this app! It's easy enough for young children to use, and older kids enjoy it, too, because it's so much fun. The story method of teaching children how to contruct the letter is great! It really helps them to remember how to do it even when they aren't using the app. This has defintely helped both of my girls, and I would highly recommend it to parents and teachers!

Love this app!!
I'm so glad my friend told me about this writing app. My daughter has had trouble doing some of her letters and this app has really helped! Added bonus...she actually does it on her own!!!

Itโs been hard to find something that captures my sonโs attention AND really teaches handwriting.... but this app hits both of those marks. He really likes using all of the colors to write like a rainbow and has been on it for long bouts of time without any coaxing. He even wrote the letters on the printable worksheets they have. I liked having the option of using their order or changing the settings so he can jump around to any letter alphabetically once he's mastered several. This is a winner in my book!

Great, only one problem so far
I think the app is a great idea and I love the fact that its not as error sensitive as some of the other apps out there (I work with a a lot if children with very low frustration tolerances). My one and only pet peeve is that the app does not allow you to dive right in and just choose a specific letter that you want to work on.... I work with some children who are only practicing certain letters (for example S), but to get to the letter S, they would have to complete allllll other letters before it in order to open the letter S up.....they already know how to form those letters, so it's a waste of therapy time to have to practice them all before we get the S (or whatever specific letter they may be working on). It would be a nice upgrade to the app if whoever is using it can go right ahead and just pick whatever letter they want to work on, without having to complete all the other letters before it.
