Pen collectors are a niche market, so I definitely get that there aren’t developers knocking down the door. So let me start by saying I’m grateful this was built at all. I do think it is a great start, but there are a number of easy improvements. The drop downs under categories are fairly limiting. For instances there are multiple filling mechanisms that aren’t listed. Making “not specified” into a fillable field would be helpful. At the end of the day, just have a catalogue that lets you match the description to a pic is outstanding. Also, the fact that you can add multiple pics is great too so you can add nib shots. Shout out to the developer and hope you can keep refining it.

Great, but wish there was a way to sync between multiple devices
Love this app. It helps me organize my pens so I can better keep track of my ever growing collection. I would however like to have my pen data sync between multiple devices.

I'm really enjoying this app to help document my journey with fountain pens! The organization system is very thorough and I'm having a lot of fun with it. The Notes section especially nice because after inputing all the technical specs of the pen, I have space to write about the pen's story (when I received it, how it's felt to write with it, ect.)

Love this app - great way to inventory, group, etc. The developer clearly is a vintage fountain pen collector, which is awesome.
Very useful to control a collection

Nice looking app, no export or sync yet
UPDATE: over a year has passed and still no iCloud support; changing my review because this is a critical feature as I just found. Since it does not sync with the cloud nor is there any way to import data you have exported, I just lost ALL my several years of entered data due to a bad iCloud backup. The developer has given excuses for why they do not support it but that is not acceptable. STAY AWAY until they support cloud synch & import.
I also note that it has been 10 months since they even updated the app. Are they even working on it? It is otherwise an excellent app but this one glaring flaw makes it unsafe for anyone to use. I likely won’t risk it again. Pity. I enjoyed using it.

This is a very good looking and promising app. I especially like how it handles display of photos of pens, it works extremely well!
Originally you could not export (or import) data to and from it, which also provides the ability to back it up. They have now added export, so that is important progress; your data is now not stuck in the app if they stop selling it or it stops working, but there is still no import or sync among multiple iOS devices, which is important, especially the latter. Thank you for the improvement, though, and please keep on working on it!
I initially took away 3 stars for those vital missing features. I have added one star back but still leave off 2 due to missing sync and import.
I also now feel comfortable mentioning & recommending the app positively to the members of the local pen club I run (www.IowaPen.club) and have done so.
I'll keep it on my iPhone and iPad and take a look at it from time to time to see if those vital features show up, and at that point I will pay to remove ads and start using it.
But without those features, I won't be able to move my data from a home inventory app I have been using since before I found this app, since I can't import it from the old app.
I have an iPad too, and want to sync my data to access it there too, like most apps support.
But it is otherwise a very good app.
A desktop app would be nice too. Or a web app.
Developers: take a look at BookPedia/CDpedia/DVDpedia/GamePedia from Bruji; they are what you should aspire to; works on Mac & iOS devices and syncs; some features require the desktop, but an excellent model to follow.
Some more standard data fields would be useful, perhaps some customizable fields. A way to lookup/contribute to a big database of pens would be handy to speed entry too.

Great but some easy improvements needed
This is a great App to catalogue pen collections. Only thing out there so highly recommended for pen collectors.
A few suggestions for the next update:
1) Allow for EF, F, M, B and Flex, Italic, Music, etc for nib type with multiple coding. At the moment it only asks for mm which we don’t always know.
2) Allow for a window for condition of the pen: See Richard Binders categories for instance
3) Allow for country of manufacture.

Thank you for the positive review. You can create new attributes to record things such as your pens’ condition, country of manufacture, or additional information about the pen tip. When viewing any pen, tap the tools button (it looks like a wrench) in the top right corner, select “Configure Attributes”, and then tap “+” to add the new attributes you desire. You can also add new tip sizes. When viewing the list of tip sizes, tap the “Edit” button in the top right corner, then tap “+” to add a new tip size to the list. Good but can be better
This is a one-of-a-kind app. I am obsessed with finding the perfect writing pen and this is a great way to keep track of what pens I have tried and my ratings and thoughts on them. I like that you can customize how you categorize them and how you want to record information. However, there can be some improvements. The biggest concern I have is that I wish this app was interactive where you can create a profile that allows others to view your pens and interact with you. Also, when the pens are listed, the image quality of the pens are reduced. It would be convenient if freely rearranging the order of the pictures was an option, though there is a “Move to front” option.

Would be great if we could change the mode of the app. Like adding a dark mode.

Great app to keep track of my collection
Great way to keep track of my collection. It’s easy to input pens and data. Wish there was a way to remove some fields like price as I don’t keep track of that and also add a tab for inks!

Nice collection database
Does what it says in an easy to use streamlined way. One thing I’d like is if the tags could be used in the group sorting, especially the wishlist (or have it as it’s own tab.) I rather not see my wishlist when looking at pens I currently own and vice versa. For now I have a Wishlist “Brand” to keep them separated. A bonus would be a way to catalog your inks as well.

Wish there was more flexibility with what information can be stored.

Worked great until the last update
This app was awesome at keeping track of all my pens and organizing them in virtually any way I wanted. Since the update 2 days ago I now only get a black screen. I've tried to find a way to contact them to let them know but come up empty handed. The only option left is to hope they see this so they can fix the problem. If not then it will be a sad day when I have to delete the app because it was VERY useful.
UPDATE: I figured out how to contact the developers and they fixed the problem I was having very quickly. Now that it's back to the functional and very useful app I loved, I changed my rating from the 1 I gave it when it stopped functioning to the 5 it deserves. Job well done on the app and fantastic customer service.

Not saving brand and model info
The app will not save brand and model of pen (it saves all other information fine). Fix this and it'll be a cool app worth buying.
UPDATE: after pointing out an issue to the developer, I received a response within hours and now, two days after discovering the problem, developer has fixed the problem and rolled out the updated version. Well done! My previous one star rating is now a five.

Has a very small pen database, and isn't user friendly in the slightest.
