About

Do you need to lead the Stations of the Cross in a time-limited slot? StationsTimer will allow you to pace the stations equally, alerting you to move to the next station by a discrete vibration, and then showing the description of the new station on the screen. Many Christian churches following the Catholic tradition depict fourteen events around of the passion and death of Jesus Christ in a series of images. A common public exercise is to lead a group of worshippers to reflect on each event, with a spoken reflection and a period of silence. But when the Stations are to be led in such a way as to finish at a fixed time, pacing 14 pauses can be better judged using this app. The user simply indicates the total number of minutes available for the devotion, and the app divides the time into 15 equal units (allowing for a closing prayer at the end). There is no need to look at the phone continuously; a discreet vibration alerts the user to move on. The display also shows the title of the current station so any doubt can be resolved by a quick glance at the screen. The app is preloaded with three versions of the Stations: the traditional set of 14 long honored in Catholic churches, including events not explicitly recorded in the pages of the Bible; and two alternatives using exclusively Biblical scenes, one following the pattern in Clifton Cathedral (Bristol, UK), and the other a pattern used by St John Paul II in the Colosseum (Rome).
