Make it Mac friendly!!!

I’ve used this at my English school for years in Japan and found it very useful. I now have more teachers, but don’t possess the required windows pc to set up multiple iPads. Please make a Mac friendly version!

Thank you for your feedback. In a bid to not only remove the tie to Windows, STEARsoft now has a Cloud Server solution. Not even a Mac needed. As well as saving on hardware, you save the running costs, the setup and administration costs, it’s more secure (https and two-factor authentication standard) and has many new developments over the Windows version. Being cloud based you can synchronise and access school wide functionality off-site and your data is more secure. The cost is included within the license cost that you’d have to pay for running your own server, so is no more expensive either. If you’d not spotted this already have a look on the website and follow links to ‘STEARsoft Cloud Server’. I hope you’ll like what you see and might find this an even better way forwards (you will of course be able to securely use all your macs with the cloud server as it is all web based).

I failed to add new student-_-

this is good to use
but i was frustrated about that
it is only possible to register 36 students in a class.

I want add more students.
actually, i am using this app for absence check for our ski club.
We have more than 80 members

please modify the maximum number of students in each classes

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased to say that the latest version has the limit removed. There is a new ‘Advanced setup’ option on the main menu that lets you specify your own limit. 80 or 100 would be no problem. Thank you again for your feedback as such comments help things to keep improving.

Good but?

The application is quite good but unfortunately doesn't support Arabic language. The student names appear as @@@@@@@. If you can fix the language, the app will be no1 in the store. Also, the export data for pdf format needs more work on it.

Thank you very much for this feedback. The issues I found in the pdf export have been addressed, and international characters should be supported. If there are still issues with the latest version, please get in touch on the Forum so we can determine the details and try and fix them. Easy to use and very helpful to my toy school. I have used this to take registers of my toys in toy school.

Rubbish

Incredibly difficult to set up and can't cope with simple things like double periods or different period times in a two site school. I'll stick to pen and paper.

Great!

Use this for every class. I'm a gymnastics coach so don't have time to write things out, find pens etc. I use this on my iPad and can make note of payments etc. only down side is I can only add 36 children when some of my classes are 40+ I usually create another class as an overflow register! For the money though I wouldn't do without!!!

Thank you so much for this kind review and taking time to give your feedback. You may have noticed the latest version now supports class sizes greater than 36. Go to 'Advanced Setup' from the top screen to increase the limit :)

Great App - with pc server makes recording attendance a breeze

Have been using this system to record attendance for a term now and I cannot fault how easy it is to use. The only reason not to give it 5*s at the moment is that it does not yet support the additional screen size afforded to the iPhone 5. If it did, it would make it perfect.

Very good but with limits. NO MAC SYNC :-(

Within the limitations of a strict weekly or bi weekly school timetable, this is an excellent app. The user interface is intuitive and attractive.

However two major limitations:
1. Rather rigid regarding dates. If you have several private students, this may not be too effective.

2. No syncing with Mac or Mac version of app. Big drawback. Just changed over from iPhone 3GS to iP 5. App not synced via iTunes for some reason so now I have no back up of data. Very bad. If you have an iphone app get a mac to match it stearsoft please!

Thank you for your positive review and honest feedback. Sorry it's taken a while (nearly 6 years!) to reply here. Although STEARsoft is most efficient with pre-generated dates, you can also add attendance sessions add-hoc: When viewing a class attendance sheet, tap Edit -> 'Add single session'. A bit hidden maybe. Sorry. Re: 2, Noted. Limited resource means a direct Mac version is unlikely any time soon. However, I have had positive feedback about STEARsoft working on a Mac under VMWare fusion. Two other backup options are using the email-backup ('Save backup data by email' on top screen) and synchronising with a STEARsoft Cloud Server.

very handy app; responsive dev

I am a US teacher and some of the app terminology is UK based, yet the functionality is solid. My trial period with the free Lite version demonstrated how useful the app is in my setting, and I upgraded to the full version. I'm finding this app to help me a great deal in my school roll taking, incident tracking, weekly schedule, and student info gathering. Had a few glitches at first; I posted a note to the developer in the online support thread for my issue, and he responded immediately, answering my questions and welcoming my suggestions. A recent update solved my main issue. There is a web-based PC sync available (no Mac yet). I look forward to any continued development.

A solid B plus

This is a good solid product for the hard pressed teacher. As a PE teacher I find it very useful to quickly register in the field and then transpose to Sims later.
I would like to see this back up to drop box as I can't get it to back up to the searsoft sever. I would love to also see a way of being able to grade the students as well which would then make this truly the teachers planner - with some tinkering this will be the the premier product in this field

Thank you for such a considered, kind, balanced and useful review. Sorry it's taken so long to reply here. 6 years on, and sadly there is still no markbook, although there have been other improvements, and this is still on the back-burner. For security of data, your iPhone should backup all App data anyway without needing to add an extra Drop-Box feature. However, perhaps of interest in this regard is a STEARsoft-Cloud-Server synchronisation option that has recently been added. Thank you again.

Spreadsheet export please!

Excellent app! Exports to spreadsheets would be a great addition.

This app is fantastic and easy to use. It has made keeping a track of incidents and attendance of students so easy. I use it every day and wonder what I ever did before. Well done stearsoft.

Most useful app on my IPhone!

This is an outstanding app, and i'm yet to see any registration software which is anywhere near as easy to use with such a clear, convenient interface (and I've seen quite a few!). I always have access to all my registers in my pocket, even on school trips! The students love the fact I can quickly and effectively register them on my phone. I can't imagine being without this app now!

An amazing app for recording virtually anything

I use this to track the attendance for all my classes as well as for logging behaviour and rewards etc. An invaluable tool for teachers and has reduced my admin considerably.

The most difficult software ever!

I am a teacher who purchased STEARsoft to assist me daily in class with my attendance. Although the app for my iPad works great, the online program that you synchronize to is awful! It is not user friendly in the least bit and fails to synch data correctly a majority of the time.

I was sorry to read this. It sounds like a very frustrating bad experience. Teachers of all people don’t need that :( 9 years later, Apple products have improved so I can reply to you. And STEARsoft has been constantly improving too, not just fixing problems to aim for perfect reliability and stability, but still moving forward with enhanced security, cloud connectivity and a functional Watch App too. If you gave STEARsoft another try I hope you’d not get the same bad experience, and you should know there would be human support through the STEARsoft website for any difficulties you did have.
