Tuning
I like the custom tunings that I can add to the app and I can find all of the different chords on the fret board where I make the changes thanks for making it easy and simple
Very helpful
Every guitar player can benefit from this cool little gem, tap around and find all the settings, tunings and guitar necks.
Steeler’s Dream
Very handy tool for guitarists, especially Steel Players. Developer is responsive and listens to customer requests. Great app!
Great
Love this app, super helpful. Would love the ability to edit the fret marker colors to match my guitar, but that’s a nitpick
love this app
this app has been so helpful to me as i play a couple of uncommon tunings on my pedal steels and lap steels. i am able to find scales and chords with ease. this app has been influential in my development as a player. thank you John Sohn!

Steel Sidekick Tweak Needed
Great idea, but when setting up a custom guitar, I discovered that you can’t set pedals or levers to raise or lower by 1/2 steps.
Every Steel Player needs this!
This is a must have app. Brilliant. It gives you the entire layout so you can easily learn your different pedal & lap steel layouts.
Not Just For Steel Guitar!
This app is brilliant for mapping out the fretboard of both pedal and lap steel guitars in any tuning that you care to try out and you can see the results of changes before crawling around under your guitar.
It doesn’t stop there. You can create a “custom guitar” for regular Spanish tuning, or by ignoring a string or two on the bottom, you can create layouts for ukulele or mandolin or Keith Richards 5 string. The app will work for anything with less than 12 strings in any tuning, showing you how to find chords and scales.

Great App for the Steel Guitar
Just discovered this and am happy I did! Don't forget that if you tap on the notes they'll sound the tones, and it's in tune of course. I'd love to see them add pedals and knee levers somehow to the various chords to make knowing where those are a lot easier.
Thanks to the maker of this App!

SteelSidekick
This app is essential for all aspiring steel guitar players. When I think of the hours I spent mapping out scales and chords in the different tunings, I have to say those coming up don’t know how fortunate they are to have this instant reference in all the important tunings. A thousand thank-yous, sidekick, who ever you are.

Nice, but poor intonation
The app is well designed and seems very useful. However, the intonation is off dramatically. The further I go up in pitch the more flat the notes go. Odd.
Good tool
Use this tool all the time. Only suggestion is to add more scales and chords. The modes would be great, some extended chords.
Superb and Unique
A fantastic way to come to grips with a ten-string crazy-tuning-plus-pedals-and-levers instrument...
Good notes and chords for a C6 lap steel
Just what I wanted to find my way around a new c6 lap steel. Simple and easy to see.
Brilliant!
As an intermediate lap steel and dobro player heading down the pedal steel rabbit hole with a 12 string 5&4 guitar, this will make the learning process so much easier. Thank you!
um, no it really doesn't work
doesn't allow you to build a custom copedent. i dare you to try and input sneaky petes b6 copedent. one raise and one lower per string in real life, nothing in virtual reality. boooooo. fix it
Use this all the time...
I use this app all the time. It is a fabulous tool for pedal steel players. I did have a couple of minor problems though. I could find no way to adjust the volume of SteelSidekick's internal sound. On my device this is just too damn loud in relation to other apps which makes it problematic to switch back and forward from another audio app, say Spotify, to figure out a chord inversion or a lick. Trivial, but annoying.
The facility to set up one's own copendant is fantastic and looks straight-forward enough but setting the pedals seemed a little buggy to me in practice. Maybe just user error but be prepared for that to take a couple of attempts to get right. Once your copendant is set up and saved though, you don't need to worry about it again.

Excellent tool
Would be better if you could create a custom copedent.
Wow!
Unbelievable! I never thought that I'd find a steel guitar app on here. Steel Sidekick is very organized, and it's easy to differentiate the notes on the guitar. The sounds also help me make sure I'm playing mine correctly! I'd recommend this app to anyone who is a beginner at the pedal steel, or even a master
