What's New in SteelOps
2.7.0
September 30, 2026
WIND RISK AT HEIGHT (VWRS) • Tap a forecast hour to see what forecasters expect: the nearest airport forecast and the Environment Canada city forecast • The wind profile chart now shows Environment Canada's maximum surface gust line • The first forecast hour also checks the nearest weather station's gust. A stronger gust nearby can raise the risk, never lower it • When your phone's own checks show the forecast reads gusts too low at your site, VWRS raises them. It never lowers a gust WEATHER • Every forecast now compares three weather models (GEM, ECMWF, and GFS) and shows how well they agree FROST AND FOG • The Frost & Condensation chart now works out your steel's temperature hour by hour from sky, wind, sun, and steel thickness • Set your steel finish and thickness in Settings > Advanced • Frost warnings come earlier, with a new frost point line and a new "Near Dew Point" level • Better fog forecasts. Freezing fog and ice fog are named, because they build rime on wire rope and lattice • Airport and Environment Canada frost and fog forecasts show on the card • A quick morning question, "Frost on the steel this morning?", checks the frost forecast FORECAST ACCURACY • New screen in Settings: see how right the forecast has been at your site. Nothing leaves your phone YOUR DATA IS SAFER • Photos waiting to upload now survive app updates • Offline changes keep trying until they sync • Site surveys now back up to your account • A new phone brings everything back, including saved slings • Lift photos can be taken with no signal • Sign Out warns you before it deletes work that has not synced
