StemLab is a music app that uses AI to separate songs into individual stems like vocals, drums, and bass directly on your iPhone or iPad. It also provides a multi-track mixer with studio effects for further manipulation and export.
No, the core functionality of StemLab, including AI separation and mixing, does not require a subscription. However, StemLab Pro, which unlocks unlimited separations and full FX chain access, is available as a one-time purchase or a yearly subscription.
StemLab supports importing MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, and even MP4 and MOV video files, with a limit of up to 500 MB per file.
Yes, you can record your own vocals or instrumental takes directly within StemLab to layer over the separated stems or create custom mixes.
Each stem can be processed with a chain of six effects: Pitch Shift, Reverb, Delay, Compressor, a 4-band EQ, and Saturation. Master Bus FX are also available for the overall mix.
StemLab is designed for iPhone and iPad devices.
The latest version of StemLab is 1.2, and it was last updated on May 19, 2026. Updates typically bring new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes.
While built for musicians and producers, StemLab's on-device processing and intuitive interface make it accessible for beginners looking to experiment with song stems and remixing.
