So sad
As a 3 year user and subscription holder, I am heartbroken to be ending my journey with step bet. My partner sprained his ankle so he could not compete in a challenge. Despite sending a receipt and a doctors note to step bet, their unfriendly AI bot would not do anything to help. Sorry StepBet, there’s other game in town- will be ending my membership and we will switch to another app.

BEWARE OF THIS BEFORE YOU JOIN UP
My first challenge - 876 joined and 730 completed the challenge. I was shocked when the total payout per winner was $.80!!! Step bet take 15% of the TOTAL pot meaning they got $5256 and the winners get left with coppers. Absolute greed and I will not be participating again. Shame.
BEWARE
Beware before signing up. Read the rules carefully. The only way that they payout is through PayPal . You can use a credit card to sign up but only one way to pay out. Can I blame them no. Years ago PayPal compromised my account. I have nothing to do with PayPal any longer. I didn't read the fine print but it seems ridiculous you would refund monies won to the same payment. But no! They keep it. Good idea, but lousy communications and how they finish the bet. So Beware!

I just finished my first step bet and the end prize was only $1.64! However, when you do the math we were all supposed to win a lot more money but the app decided to steal $15,000 from all the winners!!! Seriously this is a PSA don’t download this scam!!!!!
Kinda felt like false advertising
I did my first StepBet back in 2017. I completed the challenge and won 8 bucks from the pot. It wasn’t much but it felt great. Over time I stopped using the app. A few weeks ago a friend mentioned discovering it and I decided to give it a go! I did a short challenge to get myself into the groove. I finished my challenge and was so proud of myself! I did the math and I thought I would get a net positive $6. So I was very surprised when I saw that I would only get the $40 back. Unfortunately, I had already joined two new bets when I saw this :/.
I asked my friend and she said this happened to her in her last bet. She told me that she found out that due to fees and membership benefits, most people don’t get returns? I get that’s it’s a small sum, but it helped motivate me and I was looking forward to treating myself. I even went and looked at StepBets instagram FAQs and it doesn’t mention their fees at all. In fact their response to “how do I win money?” is “if you hit your personalized step goals for the entire game, you split the pot with other winners. That means you get back what you bet, plus profit”
So better beware

Use caution, Not worth it
The singular plus: it reignited my habit of walking. The many cons: first, the step count update is ridiculous! It never matched my health app that its connect to. Always shorting me. It wasn’t a delay because I would have had more power days. I have another app also connected to my health app to track my steps and it was always in sync. One user suggested making sure I have the health app open and then opening StepBet and updating the steps. Even if that did work, I’m not jumping through hoops to make sure .11¢ which is about what I stand to get paid out. The second con. That’s great so many kept their goals. But at this rate StepBet is making approximately $15 per person. That ratio doesn’t check out. The third con, they only pay out on PayPal. That’s so antiquated. I wish I would have realized that before joining. I would have reconsidered. I’ve now had to create a PayPal account only to get back my $80(2 challenges). Pay out will take forever with PayPal. I’d quit but I’m not letting them get my buy in money. I have a week and half more til they’re finished and 1 million more steps to walk just for the app to see it. It’s quite frustrating and not at all fun or challenging at this point.

Seems like a scam
at first, I had no issues with the app. I was able to log in every day, except today which is the last day of the two challenges I’m in. Now, looking at all the other reviews this seems pretty convenient that I’m not able to login on the last day of the challenges.
No Payout
This app was fun for the incentive to walk more but I’ve requested payout a dozen times and gotten nothing, and I’ve emailed support several times and gotten no response. This has gone on for several months and it seems like that money is just gone. A scam.

I won and got back exactly the same amount of money I put in and waited 3 days and it hasn’t returned to my PayPal account you either break even or lose large amounts of money. Waste of time AVOID!

Medical Refund Policy
The medical refund policy puts a lot of paperwork barriers in place. It has not been a good experience trying to get a refund on day one of a challenge due to an ER visit that will have movement restrictions.

Just straight up corporate greed trying to hold your money hostage. I get money is a great motivation for your steps, but it’s just plain horrible for the payout. I’m not expecting hundreds of dollars, but I completed 4 challenges and earned a whopping total of $0.85 throughout all of it. Don’t bother with this.
Also takes way too long to withdraw money back into your bank. You have to set up a Paypal account and it takes 10+ days for StepBet to withdraw the funds. Why is it when I deposit money into StepBet from my bank, it’s near instant, but withdrawing takes them weeks? This company really just wants to hold your money and take the highest pay cut. Again, please don’t bother with this greed

They don’t pay any money when you finish a task!
"Anti-cheating" scam
Only allows approved brands of smart watches to count steps. If you dont have those approved expensive brands, you are out of luck and can only use your phone to count your steps. Talk about a piece of junk. VeryFitPro watches are not on that list. Only would transfer 200 steps out of the 1300 i had because the 200 were me walking with my phone. I dont have pockets in most of my clothes, and as a mama to two small children, i cant always hold my phone. I will not be using this app again.

Buggy
I like the app but one note to the devs: could you look into why the app is so buggy with emojis? When I comment multiple emojis, they’ll disappear after I save them but when I go to edit the comment, they’re in there?
Hard to pull money out
They will only let you pull money out into a paypal account. It takes multiple email verifications to do this. They also charge 15% on every game, meaning most games you only win back your initial deposit. The money in the app will be forfeited after 12 months.
It’s a huge money grab. Better to use some other step app.

SCAM! increase your screen time app
If you don’t open your app everyday, your steps don’t count toward the challange. I synced 2 days latter, steps where displayed but it marked that I missed my challange and lost 40 USD. Stay away

It’s a scam. Company keeps all the winnings and only gives you your money back that you put in for the bet. Do not waste your time with this app
