About

Stillheard keeps a voice you love on your own Mac, and lets it say new things, privately, and only within your family. Write a few words and hear them in that voice. Read a bedtime story in it, in English or in an Indian language your family keeps at home. Narrate a whole book overnight and keep it as an audiobook. Turn a tale into a play where each character speaks in a different family voice. Everything happens on your own devices: there are no accounts, no cloud, and nothing is ever uploaded. CONSENT COMES FIRST There is no way to make a voice that skips consent. A living person reads a short consent sentence in their own voice before their voice can be created. A memorial voice asks for a statement of authority and a second family member who agrees. Consent travels with the voice, is visible in the app, and can be revoked at any time, and the voice goes silent immediately. MANY LANGUAGES, INCLUDING YOURS Stillheard speaks English and more than twenty other languages, including the Indian languages many families keep at home: Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, and more. Read a tale in the language it was written in, and turn on read-along captions that show each line as it is spoken. For the bundled stories you can show a translation beneath, so everyone in the room can follow along. EVERY CLIP SAYS WHAT IT IS Every piece of audio Stillheard makes is marked as synthetic in a machine-readable way, twice: a label in the file, and an inaudible mark woven into the sound, written to a tamper-evident log. Point the app at any audio file and it will tell you whether it was made here, in which voice, and with what consent. ON YOUR DEVICES, NOT IN A CLOUD No accounts. No analytics. No server. Stillheard uses the network only to download the models it runs on, its speech models and an optional transcription model, and, if you choose to turn it on, to serve voices to your own approved devices over your own Wi-Fi. Every one of those models runs on your Mac, not in a cloud service. WHAT YOU CAN MAKE - Speak: write a line and hear it, kept as a keepsake with its provenance. - Stories: a shelf of bedtime tales read in a familiar voice, with read-along captions and a bedside player that stays dark. Paste your own tales too. - Books: a library of public-domain classics, and a way to bring in your own book (text, EPUB, or PDF) and narrate it overnight, a chapter at a time, into an audiobook. - Plays: turn any story into a many-voiced play. The app finds who speaks each line, you cast faces onto names, and fix any line without remaking the rest. A REMOTE FOR THE FAMILY The iPhone app is a remote for the Mac. Turn on serving, share your twelve-word family phrase once, approve each device by name, and the family can hear the voices from their phones whenever the Mac is on. Pairing is signed end to end, so no device can pretend to be another. SHARING TAKES TWO PEOPLE A keepsake plays freely inside the app. Saving one as a file takes two people, the owner and a second family member with the family phrase, and the saved file carries the synthetic mark. Stillheard requires Apple Silicon on the Mac. It is built for private family use. It offers no voices of public figures and has no marketplace or sharing network. This app does not provide legal advice. Voice-likeness and memorial-voice rights differ by place. Use Stillheard within your family and within your local law. https://eswarvenigalla.substack.com/p/stillheard-privacy-policy https://eswarvenigalla.substack.com/p/stillheard-terms-of-use https://eswarvenigalla.substack.com/p/stillheard-support
