Great way to easily share family history

I wish I had started using this earlier, because it’s so easy to archive recordings to the cloud.

Lost the only recording of my grandfather

8 years ago, I recorded the only interview of my grandfather in the StoryCorp app. My whole family was there and listened with excitement, knowing that we’d be able to come back to this memory for decades.

I logged in for the first time since the recording only to find that StoryCorps had not preserved the audio file properly. It’s completely ruined, just playing a snippet like a broken record.

I can’t believe this app failed to do the one thing it was supposed to do.

Unbelievable. Heartbreaking. I’d give this 0 stars if I could.

Perfect for recording or listening to great stories!

I love listening to the amazing stories that are available on this app and I love that I can interview my loved ones and add those stories to the collection!

Great App to Record and Save Stories

This app is a great way to record the stories of my family and friends. I love that they can share their histories and will be saved for future generations.

More people should know about this app

I used the app to record with family members. It’s moving to know my great great grandkids will be able to hear my conversation with my grandmother. Thanks StoryCorps!

Amazing and helpful

I used StoryCorps to record an interview with my grandma at least 5 years ago, but neglected to publish or download it. Now that she’s no longer coherent, I went to look for it and couldn’t find it after the latest update.
The customer service team was SO HELPFUL and figured out how to access it on my device when I had given up all hope, and now I have an incredible memory of my grandma that my whole family can love and appreciate. So thankful for the help from this team, and for their love of stories. It means everything.

Bad app that doesn’t really work

Recorded an interview and tried to upload it and it just kept pulling up an error saying try again later (i did and it still didn’t work). Tried to go on the website on my pc to upload it and the website isn’t even capable of letting me log in, it just says “checking if the site connection is secure” forever.

A Lasting Shot

This was an extraordinary episode, truly. The music, the stories, the post event, and his speech in Capetown…this episode took my breath away and brought me to tears. Thank you so very much for your work, and for continuing to honor individuals’ stories. Our story is our legacy.

RIP my interview

So StoryCorps is like, inherently not a bad idea, but the app is just horrendous. It’s incredibly buggy and deleted my recording once it froze on my “Publish” page and then proceeded to crash and my entire recording was gone. It was a 10 minute interview and the said person I was talking to has a 12-hour time difference and it was incredibly irritating that the interview was deleted. Even if it didn't do that however, it in general was just a very buggy app. The Redo Recording button didn’t work unless I went off the app and reset it, but also the buttons just took years to register. Great idea, terrible app for doing so though. It can use many improvements.

Horrible

crashed and didnt save my 6 minute story

Helped me through a rough time

When I was about 16-17 I had an assignment in my english class to interview somebody from my family using StoryCorps. I interviewed my grandmother, because she was my best friend and I understood that because she had many health problems (kidney problems, epilepsy, even cancer during her youth.) She likely wouldn’t be around as long as I wanted. I interviewed her, uploaded it on the app, got an A on my assignment and forgot about it. April 8th 2022 my Grandma passed away from septic shock due to an infection that none of her doctors caught. The whole family was as devastated as you can imagine, matriarchs are very important in my culture! About a week later, I remembered the interview, and after finally being able to log into my account, I had access to nearly 30 minutes of my grandmas beautiful voice and laughter. It helped my family get through one of our roughest times. So thank you StoryCorps ❤️

Alarm deleted recording

Recorded a 30 minute interview and at the end was interupted by an alarm on phone going off. It deleted the whole interview. Very disappointed.

Terribleness!!!!!!

My interview got corrupted now I have a f in ela

Unreliable 0 Stars.

Every attempt at uploading any recording is met with a Lodi g screen that never goes through, or stubborn page that does not respond to any click. A total waste of time for our conversations, no class from this experience.

Avoid

Froze my interview and said it was still going and wasted 30 minutes of my time saying recording but it only recorded 4 seconds horrible app

Recorded Conversation Lost

I recorded a lovely conversation with my mother for a school assignment. At the point where it was time to select a photo as the cover, i s browsing through the photos and when I had selected one and returned to the screen the app restarted and my conversation was no where to be found.

Buggy

The app is buggy and slow!

Slow customer service

UPDATE: Upping the rating to 4 stars. A customer service rep contacted us and solved our problem in the third day. They were extremely polite and helpful.

Got all the grandkids together from out of state and did a full interview with grandpa. Afterwards we got kicked out of the app and couldn’t log back in. Don’t even know if the interview was saved. Contacted customer service numerous times. 2 days later and still no response.

Great App!

I’ve used the StoryCorps App a lot over the past few years and it’s a great way to record and archive my stories!

Lovely idea, terrible execution

I was so excited when I first discovered this app. It’s a fantastic idea and I commend the makers for that. I went to interview my aba for a theatre project, and found that the interview automatically cut off at 45 minutes, just when things were getting interesting. I understand they don’t want interviews that go on for hours, but I would have preferred the option to edit the interview subsequently. Secondly, I saved the interview, and went back to listen to it a week later, all great. A year later I have returned to find it wiped from my phone!! I have searched for it in my files but there is no evidence of it ever existing. I am devastated as I now cannot see my aba because of Covid and would have loved to listen to the interview again. It definitely saved at the time so I have no idea why it has vanished now. I am heartbroken and definitely won’t be using the app again.
