About

Straight Weather is a weather app with nothing in the way. No ads. No trackers. No account. Open it and the sky is the whole screen. WHAT YOU GET, FREE • Current conditions, 48 hours ahead, and seven days out • Severe-weather alerts from the US National Weather Service — shown above everything else, with the official protective-action instructions in full • Two hours of animated rain radar on the map • The written forecast discussion from your local NWS office • Air quality, UV index, dew point, pressure, visibility, wind and gusts • A home-screen widget, lock-screen complications, and an Apple Watch app • WeatherNation live TV, five minutes a day, provided by NetComTV That is the app, not a trial of it. Nothing in that list expires. STRAIGHT WEATHER PLUS — OPTIONAL Plus extends how far ahead you can see. It adds exactly four things: • A 16-day forecast instead of seven days • Seven days of hour-by-hour detail instead of 48 hours • Predicted radar frames as well as observed ones, so the loop runs forward • Unlimited WeatherNation live TV $11.99 a year, or $1.99 a month. No trial, no bundle, no second tier. Severe-weather alerts are free for everyone and always will be. Plus does not change which warnings you see. National Weather Service warnings are public-safety information, and this app will not put them behind a price. HONEST ABOUT THE NUMBERS The forecast is a blend of the ECMWF, ICON, GFS and HRRR weather models, served through Open-Meteo. Straight Weather does not make its own prediction — it presents theirs, normalised and unmodified. When a reading is unavailable, you see a dash. Not a zero, not a guess. A dash means we do not know, and you should be told that. Switch between °F and °C and the forecast is re-fetched in that system. Nothing is converted on your device, so the numbers are always the ones the forecast was issued in. SEVERE WEATHER, TAKEN SERIOUSLY The US National Weather Service is the authority for watches, warnings and advisories. Straight Weather is a window onto their feed, not a replacement for it. Active alerts appear at the top of the screen, sorted worst-first, with the NWS's own wording — including the instruction text that tells you what to actually do. For anything consequential, the app links you straight to weather.gov. Alerts are shown while the app is open. Straight Weather does not send push notifications for severe weather, and does not pretend to. PRIVACY There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to breach. Saved places stay on your device and are never uploaded. Your location is rounded to four decimal places — about 11 metres — before it is used to fetch a forecast, and nothing finer is ever recorded. No advertising SDK. No analytics SDK. No third-party trackers of any kind. Subscriptions are handled by the App Store. Straight Weather has no server, never sees your payment details, and keeps no record of a purchase — on each launch it asks the App Store whether Plus is active, and that is all. DATA SOURCES Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0) — conditions, hourly, daily, air quality, place search US National Weather Service (public domain) — alerts, written forecast, US place names RainViewer — radar OpenStreetMap / Nominatim (ODbL) — reverse geocoding outside the US Alerts and the written forecast discussion are available in the United States. Conditions, hourly, daily and radar work worldwide. SUBSCRIPTION TERMS Straight Weather Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, offered as 1 year at $11.99 (US) or 1 month at $1.99 (US). Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, and again at the start of each period until you cancel. Cancel any time in your App Store account settings — cancelling stops the next renewal, Plus stays active until the period you have paid for ends, and the free app keeps working afterwards.
