AWESOME
I was deliberating about this for ages but after watching a demo by Sonic Lab I decided to give it a go for the very reasonable price. I am very glad that I did as it is awesome. Running it through Other Desert Cities and Ridgewalk I can get huge drifting pads and soundscapes that give my Wavestate a run for its money. The cold icy spaces that the Wavestate does so well work like magic when you stack it with Streichfetts pads.
The letters simple controls give just the right amount of variation and movement when you add huge delays and especially Ridgewalks wall of sound trickery.
If you like epic pads then this is money well spent. Going to great with my NDLR too.

This IS Streichfett!
I feel like I found my lost Streichfett. If there is a difference between the synth and the plug in, my ear can’t tell. I hope Waldorf makes a Rocket plug in next.
Lush nostalgia
If you’re inspired by the albums of J.-M. Jarre, as I am, you will love this synth. It’s a shortcut to sounds I know from records and have struggled to reproduce. There’s more to it than that: despite the simple interface, this little box can cover a surprising range of sounds. But strings and pads are its strength. I’ve spent a lot of time making string patches on other synths, both hardware and software, and Streichfett does it better than anything I’ve tried. The criticism of its preset system is valid, but the sound and the interface more than make up for it. Thank you, Waldorf, for bringing this synth to iPad and iPhone.

Works well
Good string machine. Unique sound. Cute interface. Works fine in GarageBand and Loopy. You can save infinite presets. Not difficult at all to figure out.
Almost perfect
Brilliant sounding… but be aware that the preset system is a bit of a nightmare. Luckily, creating your own sounds is ridiculously easy to the point where there’s no real need to even fool around with any presets.

Simple but Great App
This Strings app has a simple layout just like its hardware brother, but has great features allowing you to simulate retro sounds such as Jean Michel Jarre synth sounds from Oxygen and Equinox. As there are only hand full of rotary functions, I would recommend an external mid controller (sliders or rotary knobs) allowing you to use app features much easier than on-screen. Great App for ambient sounds too…Have fun messing around.

Unusable in GarageBand
I’ll update this review if the issue is fixed but as of right now this is unusable in GarageBand. Have tested several devices . Basically as soon as you hit play, any changes you have made to “registration” reset back to defaults. Works ok in standalone, but if I can’t use it properly as an AU it’s useless to me

Can save only 16 presets
I was surprised that you can only save 16 presets in this app. Very frustrating! I wish I had known this before purchasing. Also, controls like attack are very limited. I like creating patches with long attack, and you just can’t do that. Again frustrating. Expect the types of sounds this can make to be very similar. This is true for any string machine, but this is missing basic app functionality, thus the low rating.

Yesss. This was an instant buy for me and it doesn’t disappoint. I’m going to have hours of fun making space tunes LOL. Try it with some Black Hole reverb, it Lush. How about giving us a Rocket to go with it Waldorf?
