What's New in String Tension AI

2.22

August 22, 2026

String Tension AI 2.22 adds two major features to the iOS tennis racquet and string-tension tracking app: redesigned share cards and String Coach. String Coach is an on-device AI chat experience that answers questions about your racquet, strings, tension, playing history, restring timing, and costs using facts from your saved data. It requires iOS 26 or later, a supported locale, and an available Apple on-device language model; some questions require String Tension AI PRO. The share-card redesign adds a feed-friendly portrait format, consistent personal artwork, clearer charts and status figures, and a new String Job Summary card for eligible retired setups. Version 2.22 also improves share-card accuracy, entitlement checks, accessibility, and layout reliability. String Coach keeps your questions, answers, and racquet data on device, does not log conversation text, and does not retain conversations after you close the Coach. This update adds redesigned tennis share cards and String Coach, an on-device AI assistant grounded in your saved racquet and string data. - Create refreshed visual cards in a new feed-friendly shape, with a consistent personal artwork style across your String Health, tension, milestone, streak, and cost highlights. - Share a new String Job Summary card for retired setups, bringing their key playing, tension, and cost details together in one image when the relevant data is available. - Ask the new String Coach about your racquet and strings. Its highlighted facts come directly from your data, while its on-device AI provides the supporting explanation. - Enjoy clearer cards, more reliable sharing, and a milestone detail sheet that no longer crowds its badge under the navigation bar. Plus, as always, performance improvements and bug fixes.

Freezes

Unfortunately, I never got to the point where I could test if this app can actually test my racket string bed tension. It requires you to set up the racket and string setup. It constantly froze. I finally gave up and deleted the app.

Great for tracking string tension over time

I’ve been using this for one month now and it's become part of my routine before matches. You just tap the strings and get a reading. What surprised me is how consistent the readings are when I tracked them over time. I like the chart readings and trends. I use Luxilon Alu Power and those strings lose tension fast, so being able to actually see the drop over a week or two is really useful for knowing when my strings are dead and impacting my game. After getting my racquet restrung I calibrated it in the app and the absolute tension numbers lined up pretty well too. There's also a section where you can see what strings and racquets the pros use which is fun to browse. Can't believe this is free honestly. Wish I found it earlier.
