Cannot hold a steady strobe light; constantly cuts out.

Very disappointed in this flawed app. The strobe light, although accurate in speed, cannot hold its light and blacks out every 2 seconds. Useless.

Awesome teaching tool!

The metrics (frequency and RPM) bring awesome demonstration to ceiling fans, house fans, guitar strings, water streams! Visual perception is so interesting as inspired by frame rates.

FAQ

What does the Strobe Light Tachometer app do?

This app transforms your iPhone into a strobe light and a tachometer. You can control the flashing speed of your phone's flashlight from 1Hz to 130Hz. This allows you to measure the rotational speed (RPM) of objects by making them appear stationary when viewed under the flashing light.

How do I use the app to measure RPM?

In a dark environment, turn on the object you want to measure (e.g., a fan). Launch the app and manually adjust the strobe speed using the main slider until the object appears almost still. Then, use the fine-tuning buttons for exact speed adjustment. The app will display the speed in both Hz and RPM.

Is this app compatible with all iOS devices?

No, this app is specifically designed for iPhones that have a flashlight. It will not function on iPads, iPod touches, or any other iOS devices that lack a built-in flashlight.

What are the key features of the app?

Key features include a slider for adjusting strobe speed between 1-130Hz (60-7800RPM), quick adjustment buttons (x2, ÷2), fine-tuning buttons for precision up to two decimal places, manual RPM input, a background theme option, and display of speed in both Hz and RPM.

Is the app free to use?

Yes, the app is free to download and use. It does not contain any in-app purchases or advertisements, offering a straightforward and uninterrupted experience.
