About

Subplot gives you one small, strange thing to do each day. Not a to-do list. Not another habit tracker guilting you about water intake. One quest, picked fresh each morning, that makes today a little different from yesterday. Compliment three strangers before lunch. Take a phone-free hour. Doodle for ten minutes without judging any of it. Walk a different route home. Ask someone for a book recommendation and actually read it. HOW IT WORKS One daily quest, chosen for you each morning. It stays put all day — no refreshing, no infinite feed, no algorithm learning what keeps you scrolling. One bigger weekly quest that runs Monday to Sunday. Cook something from a country you've never visited. Read a whole book. Do one thing that scares you a little. Each day of that week you can leave yourself a note. One line is plenty. Add a photo if the day earned one. Nobody else sees them. By Sunday you have a week you can remember instead of a week that just went past. Not feeling it? Skip it. Take a rest day. The streak survives. EARN IT Complete quests to earn XP and level up. Build a streak. Unlock badges — First quest, 7-day streak, 30-day streak, Social butterfly, Outdoorsy, Brave heart. Attach a photo when you finish something worth remembering, and your History becomes a record of the small strange things you actually did. BRING PEOPLE Start a group and share the invite code. Everyone gets the same quest, a leaderboard that starts over each month, and a feed of what people finished. Like the ones that made you laugh. Nudge whoever hasn't moved all day. It turns out doing something mildly embarrassing is easier when three other people are doing it too. MADE YOUR WAY Eight categories — creative, social, brave, chill, outdoor, mind, foodie and random. Turn off the ones you're not up for and tune the difficulty. Set rest days when you don't want a quest, and quiet days when you don't want a reminder. Pick which notifications you actually get. Light or dark, or let your phone decide.

What's New in Subplot

1.1.0

September 25, 2026

Subplot looks different. New colours, new type, and a dark mode that actually works — set it yourself or let your phone decide. New icon, too. NOTES ON THE WEEKLY QUEST Every day of the week now has a spot for one line about how it went, plus a photo if it earned one. They're private. Only the finished quest shows up in your group. Mini quests are gone; this replaces them. GROUPS Like the things people finish. Nudge the ones who haven't started. Group activity has its own notification toggle now, so you can follow your group without being pinged about everything else. Leaderboards start over each month instead of each week. NOTIFICATIONS Daily reminder, streak reminder, Sunday recap, group activity. Pick the ones you want and ignore the rest. Quiet days pause reminders without switching anything off.
