Fix the calculations!

This is a great implementation of a solid board game. However, the app is unplayable because of calculation errors when displaying impacts of a tile to income, population, etc. If this was corrected, the review would be 5 stars, but without it, it’s a 2. I realize this is an old app, but please fix this issue!

Another developer wannabe.

Can’t even use the iPhone form factor correctly. Wastes 15% of screen. Font impossible to read. Your app is a ripoff.

App Won’t Run

Just installed this app and it will not run. Phone returns to the Home Screen when opening app or navigating to its screen within open apps. Tried restarting app, restarting phone, and removing and reinstalling.

App won’t open at all

App won’t open at all. I own the board game version and I really enjoy it. I just wanted to play it on the go… well better luck next time. Tried to play on my Iphone 14

I love it!

I got this for $0.99, which really is a steal. This is a great game and an adaptation of a very good board game. The AIs are tough and there’s a learning curve to figure out how scoring and modifiers work, but once you do, this is quite fun. Games take about 20 minutes, and the computer handles all the tricky math for you, but I still do recommend learning how it calculates these anyways, or you’ll never get far.

I play on ipad. It makes zooming in easier, and this is important to remind you which tiles use what modifiers, as the text can be small. Placing a surburb tile next to a lake tile is good. Placing suburb next to landfill is bad. But, landfill is great for an economy boost. Part of the fun is learning how to combine your tiles for best effect. The goal conditions can change from game to game, so you can’t just use the same layout designs again and again and expect to succeed!

Some tips - early in the game, build up your economic base first, or you will stagnate. Keep reputation healthy; you get +1 population for each rep point per turn, but control your growth! If you allow population to grow too quickly, you won’t have the economy to support them and you will fall behind. I play vs one AI at a time, and a game lasts about 19 turns, so if you cripple your economy, you won’t have time to catch up in time.

Anyway, if you like strategic economy games (check out Le Havre too), or you like simcity-like games, Surburbia is a winner!

Broken Game

The game won’t reward you all the goals; essentially making the game pointless.
The game is visually to big for an iPhone (everything is compacted into a small screen); would probably look good on an iPad.

Can I finish please.

2 new games in a row I have not been able to finish. I saved a game and opened a tutorial to see things k wanted to know what were in the game and the tutorial became my game save. I think if this game got a patch that fixed the clunky glitches it would be a fun game. Hope it gets fixed. I was excited to get it.

Works Perfect

My app works perfectly! Maybe a recent update fixed the errors. But this game is fantastic, and the campaign mode really brings new challenges. Love it!

Bugs!

The preview showing how the tile will affect stats are incorrect. For example, the airport which should only show -1 rep if adjacent to a suburb is showing -1 in every possible spot, despite only one space being adjacent. So disappointing since I love this game.

Response from developer

It's possible that it is showing -1 Reputation due to potentially crossing a red line on the Population track. The preview shows the total outcome of your entire turn.

Interesting, well executed, and without distractions.

It may seem a bit expensive for an app, but you get everything for one price: no ads, no in app purchases, no in-game points to cripple you until they are earned, just a fine rendition of an interesting board game. Check out some of the YouTube reviews to see what you’re in for. Far too many free apps end up costing you more than the price here, which is the last you’ll pay for it: we all complain about ‘freemium’ but few try the alternatives.

I’m not even very good at this game yet, but I am enjoying learning the strategies, and the app is not presenting any hurdles at all in this endeavour—it is clean, clear, concise, and colourful. Bravo to the game designer and the programmers.

No multiplayer

No multiplayer which is the whole reason the game is any good?

I want to like it but I can’t

Any game like this that allows the user to move the play area off screen and not allow them to move it back (even a recentering button would be enough for this) is impossible to like. There are really basic bugs related to playing that desperately need addressing. Basic functionality. It’s as if the developers haven’t even played their own game.

French please

L'application est sympa. Le jeu n'est pas facile et il serait bien de le mettre en français pour aider à la compréhension. Merci

Bugs

Updated graphics are super cute but I just caught my newly purchased tiles not increasing my income (yellow warehouse +2 for every touching blue business & +5 for blue new car dealership + another +2 for touching yellow warehouse.

🙁. If purchases don’t increase my scores, it’s not so fun.

Response from developer

It sounds like there were a bunch of things happening at once to your score. We would love to walk you through any questionable calculations if you message us at bugs@beziergames.com.

Enjoyable game

I originally gave it 3 stars because I found the new graphics hard to read, but I found the option to revert to old graphics and all is well.

It’s okay but buggy

Tile purchases are wrong. Allows you to buy tiles even if you don’t have enough money. If the printed price plus the market price equals more than your coins then you should not be able to buy the tile.

New writing on tiles is way, way to small

The new tiles are gorgeous, however, I own an iPad Pro and even on this large 10-inch screen I can’t read the incredibly small writing on the tiles. :/ I’m sure the printed tiles will be easier to read, but unfortunately, the online game is now dead to me. :(

Response from developer

You can freely toggle between the old and new art on the tiles by tapping on the image of the tile in the game setup screen.
