Getting Greedier by the Day
Now, I’m not a free to play person. I’ve spent my fair share on this game and for the most part, it’s been beneficial, but it’s feeling less and less that way. Recent decisions have really shown that they simply see their players as cash cows. Instead of fixing issues with production time or lack of coins, jewels or even recipes, they simply stick “solutions” to their self made problems behind a pay wall. Before, paying money used to be about efficiency and wanting things done faster but at least back then, if you didn’t want to pay, you could still get things done.
Two examples (there are more, but we’d be here all day):
1-Decoration points are a double edged sword. Before you had to buy specific decorations for jewels (aka real money) within a time period (usually about a month or so) to get shortened production time by about 40-50%. If you didn’t like them, it would still be better to buy them, but at least if the same decorations were used in another time period you wouldn’t need to buy them again, and you would still have the production bonus. Now you have to buy any decoration for jewels in the shop for an equivalent amount of “decoration points” where you can then “buy” buffs like reduced production time, bonus coins on orders & extra exp. However, this resets every month or so and you have to keep paying (at least if you want your wait times to be somewhat manageable).
2-Locking “solutions” behind paywalls. There is a serious issue with recipes and production on this game. Recipes are basically blue prints to crafting decorations for the farm. They have various categories and you have to collect a certain amount to unlock the next decoration. For example, you could need 1,100 tree recipes to unlock a cedar tree and 1,600 tree recipes for camphor tree. Unfortunately, there is nothing in between. “Grinding” for 500 recipes is nearly impossible as you get barely 3 from chests or in the daily shop for coins or jewels (yes the same coins that are already hard to get and jewels that cost real money). You have to meet two requirements to unlock decorations: number of recipes and farm level. They are supposed to be aligned. Meaning as you reach the level required, you should be near the recipe requirements. This is so not the case! To “fix” this issue, they added a new item called recipe tickets that you buy for jewels that you can use to unlock decorations. They are 1:1 with recipes and locked to spending real money. Meaning you can simply buy 500 recipe tickets to get that camphor tree decoration instead of grinding for that same amount in recipes - again, pay to win.
While I do absolutely love this game and how cute it is, unless you’re rolling in expendable cash, don’t waste your time. They will milk you for everything you have. I will be going on a spending freeze until they actually fix the problems with the game not simply locking solutions behind paywalls.
This is such an amazing game🩷🎀✨
When I first started playing it, I thought that most of the purchases were with real life money (I was partially correct). But, a lot of the purchases in the game are with the in-app currency (basically coins and gems). This game has so many different things you can do but not in a stressful way. There are ads though, but not like every two seconds or something like that. Instead, you can choose to play ads to get more rewards. When you first start playing, you get free items in the shop.
