Be careful with customer service
They give you the wrong information which cost you money. Not helpful to small businesses.
STAY THE HELL AWAY!
I was warned before to stay away from Sumup but I learned the hard way by still signing up😂 I received a £699 payment into my business account. My first ever payment on the account & straight away blocked. My account shut down & no response about releasing my money. Stay away from this scam bank!

DO NOT EVER use this service if you run a business, they will close your account randomly and remove all access and their customer support is a chat bot that won’t let you speak to anyone unless you log in but you physically can’t log in. So impossible to talk to someone and resolve issues. Avoid at all cost.

New businesses stay clear
When we first set up with sum up, a representative from the sales team would be happy to call you and answer any questions. The moment you become a customer, you get diverted to an AI bot with no one able to give you a call back. The system has crashed on countless occasions during busy periods resulting in significant revenue losses. When trying to contact sum up to rectify this you get diverted to an AI bot with no resolution. We have lost out on hundreds of sale within our first 2 months due to the unreliability of the system. I would advise any new business to stay clear.

I’ve used every major POS and Sumup is the worst to use so far, very hard and clunky to operate and doesn’t support customisable options which doesn’t make sense. You cannot even change the order of items in checkout making taking payment awkward
Avoid can ruin your business
Held a genuine transaction for no good reason from my client, after days of radio silence I finally received an saying I could not have the money and it will be held for two months. Totally destroyed my business.
Just go with Square
Tried this for a year, have the solo reader. Everything is too buggy and there’s far better POS platforms with more customer support and resources available. I’m on square and it’s been 1 day and i’m already happier with the switch. Waiting on my last payment invoice through sum up and never touching again!!

Having been a customer for several years I have now left. There is no customer service, just an endless funnel that is no help whatsoever. Emailed them, phoned them, used the chat bot, used an online agent who disappeared mid chat after I had found all the information she asked for. Customer service should be anything but difficult. What a fiasco.

Every time I try and make an online payment it gets declined, although there is plenty of money in the account. All I get from customer Service is maybe there are insufficient funds in your account!.

I signed up to SumUp just over 12 months ago and to say the least I’m very unimpressed. Initially service was ok but recently I’ve had problems accessing my money, all there is is an AI bot, an automated system you go around endlessly and no help whatsoever in getting your own money. I currently have pennies in my bank account and thousands in my SumUp account that I can’t access because they don’t send a verification code. My card reader also overheated and melted and it took several days of talking to a bot trying to get a replacement. Avoid.
Update I am now even more frustrated, after finally being connected to a human via online chat apparently I can not access my money. You can not access from an iPad only a phone and as my phone is old I can not get the app. Their suggestion is to get someone else to download and link it to my account??
Wtf? The reason given for not being able to use my iPad is that it’s not secure, oh but getting Brian down the road sounds really secure. Avoid Avoid Avoid
