Poor controls and no real instructions

Game seems to be a good throw back but no real clarifications on using specific weapons or how to swap them out. Don’t let buy it until that’s added into the menu for assistance.

No map, I am stuck

I’m not sure why there is no map. I got the power missle and used all of them, but there is no way to replenish them. I have no place to go in the game. I like the game and the touch controls are pretty good.

Can’t get high jump

Started playing the game and descended on the 1 level. Because I am unable to get high jump I am now stuck. Can’t go back up can’t do anything where I am. Game looked cool but basically I was only able to play for like 5 min. I hope someone can give me a heads up on what I’m supposed to do else this was a complete waste of money

Very bad controls

The games is fun enough but the control are so bad it ruins the experience completely. There are a thousand examples of game with perfectly fine controls in the App Store. Just copy one of those. I seriously can’t beat the third level because the controls are so bad.

A promising game with a few flaws

Tha game is very promising, but need the controlers fixed. Also need to add support for Steel Series controllers. The game itself is great and for an ultra fan of Metroid series this is just nostalgic. Please update this game

I love that someone made a metroid game

I love that someone made a metroid game you can play on your phone but the on screen controls are too buggy, especially when trying to jump forward

Promising but can’t connect game pad

The game looks great but hard to play with on-screen controls.

I connected a Xbox controller and it worked with other games but not with this.

Controls!!!!

They are horrible!!! Other than that could be a good game.

Appreciative

As a professional software engineer, I am genuinely appreciative of your efforts and know how difficult game development is.
I don't have a game pad, so the on screen controls were finicky and difficult to play with. Couldn't jump and move at same time often. But it was nice to have a game to play in anticipation to Metroid prime 4.
I look forward to new levels when you add them and even made a point to 100% everything.
Great work and I'd love to work with you on this if given the opportunity! :)

A masterpiece

I look up Metroid I find this I tell myself Y E S

Hmmmm....

If this is what the game is like AFTER the adjusted controls update, I'd HATE to see what they were previously like.

Aside from the controls being fairly far in from the edges of the screen, they're incredibly unresponsive. I also don't like how we can't control how high our character jumps (dependent on how long you hold the jump button), he will just ALWAYS jump the same height (this, dependent on the jumping height upgrades you'll find) - and this makes it incredibly difficult to land shots against enemies on platforms that you'll be trying to jump to. And when getting hit forces you back, there's a 90% chance you'll be pushed back enough to fall back to the bottom of the area you're in, which could also have lava.... enjoy that hit to your HP....
It's also strange to me that your character will just keep jumping over and over again if you hold the jump button down (especially since he won't shoot his weapon over and over again if you hold down the attack button).

I could go on, but I don't want to come across as overly harsh. These are just a couple of the bigger issues that, if fixed, would go a long way in making the game feel a lot better while playing.

While I respect the mark you guys were trying to hit, I think my negative views on this game are mainly because it's; 1: such a high and small target you're aiming for, and 2: there's more than a handful of games available in the AppStore that have done it much better.
While I'm not saying that unless you can hit that mark, you shouldn't even try - because I do applaud the effort, seriously - but.... this needs.... a LOT more work before it can hold it's own without just hanging by a fingernail off of the Metroidvania ledge while hoping that'll be enough to get people excited.

Poor controls

The controls need to be adjusted and the whole game needs to be widescreen, or at least make the controls on the edges where the blank space is so it’s easier to play. I stopped after 3 minutes because it drove me nuts. 3 stars based on potential only.

Response from developer

We just released a better approach to the screen, controls should now fit better for all devices including iPads. Thanks for the review!

Metroidvania!

I didn’t think it was possible, but the developer was able to make a Metroidvania game for a smartphone. Huge props to that. The game still needs some fine tunings and adjustments, of course, like better controls and widescreen gameplay. Other than that, it’s fantastic so far!
