Potential for Greatness
1. Inaccurate picture id - It thinks every picture that I take of a supplement is some kind of fish oil. There is no way to report this inaccuracy within a the results.
2. Inaccurate supplement information- I scanned my Qunol magnesium supplement, which clearly states on the label that it is in the form of glycinate, but since the AI didn’t see the type in the picture on the front of the bottle, it incorrectly hallucinated that I was taking a mystery nonspecific type of magnesium, which is pretty dangerous. Once again, there is no way to report inaccuracies or submit information for an incorrect supplement listing.
3. Limited Database: I scanned a picture of my Culturelle Women’s Probiotic and it thought that it was fish oil, so I searched for it (there is no bar code on the bottle) and nothing came up. Culturelle is a pretty huge probiotic brand, so I question how thorough your database is, if you’re missing large commercial brands. Also, there is no option to submit the supplement for review.
I truly haven’t had one useful or positive experience with this app yet. I REALLY want this to work though, so I’m going to check back in a few months and hope that the app is actually in working condition at that point. Otherwise I’ll probably just lower my review to 1 star and delete.
