JUST had a developer reply. Took them 12 days to tell me to send my comments somewhere else. The people who empty my dustbins didnt write the app.

Useless
I searched for: glass, cardboard, coat hanger, polystyrene, petrol, with no results every time. It just said it would request they are added to the database. I even added “this doesn’t work “ and it said it would add it to the database. They need to get “AI” involved or just “ I “

Why do councils link up with developers who lose interest in finishing an App.
This is still full of bugs and I deleted it within minutes as a waste of space.
There need to be strict criteria before tax payers money is spent on liaison staff for sloppy coding projects.

Keep it up
A good try. Worth using. Doesn’t list everything and lots bit there yet but you can add things that you think are missing. Unfortunately lots of plastics seem to be quite complicated. Keep improving it please we need help.

Better than no guide at all...
Very keen to recycle in our house, but this guide is rather cumbersome and doesn’t go far enough to explain what can be done with what we imagine is recycleable. (We do read all sorts of other sources about what can and can’t be recycled)
We need far, far better information across the entire nation and consistency in approach by local authorities, if we are to really make this an effective activity. Absolutely hate waste of any variety! Anyway, as I said, thanks Surrey for making this start - now start coordinating with your neighbours too.

Good idea & useful
A helpful app as long as you know or guess the right keyword. For example “plastic” didnot list “black plastic”, you had to explicitly put “black” in front. I’d like a “browse through the full list” section as well. - there might be things you haven’t thought to look for. I hope other councils have similar.

Needs improvement
1) I can’t read any of the navigational text or headers in the app - everything’s just green
2) Why can’t you include dates for when rubbish bins need to be put out, along with the app being able to give reminders to do this?

If it wasn’t for this app’, we would still be putting black plastic in the recycling!! It informed us that black is not recognised by the machines.
Very limited
As a surrey householder this is better than nothing but very limited. The obvious thing everyone needs to know about recycling every week is which bins go out this week and on which day in their street. Without this information, I might access this app a handful of times a year. With it, it would be indispensable. The app had my postcode so I don’t see why it couldn’t tell me which bins need to go out on which day and even have reminders built in for the night before.
