More functionality

I just downloaded this app because I prefer more “bare bones” organization apps and I liked how simple this was to navigate, but I have two suggestions for added functionality to make this more effective. First, allow us to manually add items *without* requiring the UPC. For example, I buy large packs of chicken and separate them into smaller portions to freeze, I want to be able to just add “chicken” to my Pantry and log however many portions I have, which doesn’t require the UPC of the original pack. Secondly, I would like to be able to tag entries for better organization within Categories. For example, I could have frozen spinach in my Frozen Foods Category and canned corn in my Shelf-Stable Category and lettuce in my Fridge Category; I would like to be able to tag all those items “vegetables” and be able to search for all the “vegetables” in my Pantry at any given time.

Edit: a third addition that would be helpful is being able to sort and view my pantry by category, i.e. only show me what’s in my freezer, etc

It has potential

I think adding the ability to set an expiration date on your products is crucial for a food tracker app, also, being able to collaborate with someone else in your household, If those features were added then this app would be perfect.

Needs Field for Expiration Dates

I would love to be able to add the expiration date to each pantry item and then get a reminder to use it before that date.

Great first impression

Just downloaded this, and am really enjoying adding food and categories. I would absolutely be over the moon if I could share my list with my husband who does most of the cooking/grocery shopping in the household. That would be the icing on the cake for me — hopefully that function will be released soon!

Nice interface, needs a bit more functionality.

Really like the interface of this. Scan to add. Or to then swipe in/out of stock.

What I’d really like is another field to add expiration date. And with that, an interface to see what items are going out of date and where they are.

What do I have.
Where is it.
When does it expire.
This would be super excellent then.

So close to being useful

I think we would have really liked this app. However, I can’t see any way of sharing my pantry with my wife. So it will be impossible to know if one of us changes the quantities of an item. Will try again if this function is added.

Not what it’s cracked up to be…

Every item I’ve scanned so far results in a screen that tells me that the item is not in the database.
I’ve attempted to make contact with the developer without any success.

Response from developer

Thank you for downloading the app and thank you for the feedback! Right now with version 1.5.0, there aren’t any pre-populated pantry items in the database. This is a feature that will become available with the release of version 2.0 that is currently in development!

Thank you.

I am delighted to hear of your hard work to make this app even better. Thank you for your response to my questions!

I look forward to using the very helpful app improvements that are coming.

A bit more order?

I like this app very much (organization is my life), but I would like to arrange the products by category, not just the product name. If that update comes along my four star app will go to five. Thanks.

Feature request

I’m loving this app. Any chance cloud storage or a way for users to share the data can be an option in a future update? That would give the ability for me and my spouse to use our own phones to keep the pantry updated instead of only using 1 phone for both of us.

Keep up the great work.

Awesome idea, but database seems useless

I loved the idea for this app immediately. And the few minutes I played with it I thought it was off to a great start.

HOWEVER- I scanned about 20 random barcodes from items ranging from Starbucks coffees to Larabar to milk and more, and not a single one of the items was in their database! I tried adding the first one manually, along with the picture and more, it was tedious and actually it closed the screen before it seems to have been added!

I gave a few stars to the developer for the concept and the beginnings of a great app, but I have little interest in essentially having to build up their database from scratch. Compared to just writing down my shopping list this is SO much more work. I hope the developer finds some place(s) with a robust database to integrate into this app and I’ll gladly add it to my personal “essentials” applications. But for now it’s failing at the one single most important thing it needs in order to have value to end users. I was to point and click and just tell it how many I have remaining of such items and how many I want to maintain.

Kudos for the progress- now get yourself a database with as little need to “manually” enter anything as possible and this can be a winner. Check out the way Amazon and Fitness Pal are so great at determining just about anything from a barcode and that should be the target for this app.

Great start, missing major functionality

Maybe this is user error, but this app is mostly meaningless if I can’t share it with another user.

I’ve also scanned some common items and they are not pre-populated, I’m not about to manually add my entire pantry to a database, especially when I’m not really sure where it’s being stored.

Those two features would likely be the basis of a subscription model, which I’d gladly pay a couple of bucks a month to digitally keep our pantry up to date.

Awesome

Great app! Super easy to use and very helpful!

Barcode only!

I am very disappointed in this app. The only way to add products is by barcode scan, so I am unable to add produce, meats or any non-prepackaged items that do not have a barcode.
