A major update — the biggest since the app launched. Swiss Drone Map has been completely redesigned, and gained weather planning and a flight logbook. Redesigned from the ground up A new look across the whole app: cleaner map view, redesigned settings, navigation, documents and forms. Clearer typography, refined map markers and controls. Dark mode The app now follows your system theme, or you can pick light or dark manually in Settings.

Disappointing Experience – Not User Friendly or Worth the Cost

The Swiss Drone Map app is unfortunately quite frustrating to use. The interface is laggy and unintuitive, making it hard to navigate or quickly get the information you need. Most importantly, it fails to clearly indicate whether flying in a certain area is actually allowed or not, especially for sub-250g drones. Instead of offering straightforward answers, it leaves users guessing or searching for external clarification. For an app that’s supposed to support responsible drone usage, this lack of clarity is a major flaw. Given the poor performance and unclear guidance, I consider it a waste of money. It needs significant improvement to be useful for drone pilots in Switzerland.

Das bedeutet: alle Informationen stammen direkt von der offiziellen API und sind so aktuell und verlässlich wie möglich. Die rechtliche Einordnung (z. B. für Drohnen unter 250 g) ist in der Schweiz leider nicht immer so einfach per „grün/rot“-Anzeige darstellbar, weil zusätzliche Faktoren wie Flughöhe, Abstand zu Menschenansammlungen oder temporäre Sperrzonen eine Rolle spielen. Daher setzen wir auf maximale Transparenz statt auf vereinfachte (und oft irreführende) Darstellungen.
