About
Swiss Hike is a trail companion for Switzerland's mountain paths, built on the same official open data the Swiss authorities publish.
4'757 routes across all 26 cantons: from Graubünden and Valais to the Jura, with the map, the weather and the closures that actually apply today.
Plan with confidence:
• Live trail closures and detours from FEDRO / SwitzerlandMobility
• Current conditions and hourly forecasts from Open-Meteo
• Interactive elevation profiles with ascent and descent, sourced from swisstopo
• Public transport connections to the trailhead via transport.opendata.ch
• Sunrise, sunset and daylight-remaining guidance, so you know when to start
On the trail:
• Record your hike from real GPS - distance, ascent, pace and splits - and keep recording with the phone in your pocket and the screen off
• Save the route, profile and a weather snapshot for stretches with no signal
• Download the swisstopo national map itself for offline use
• Mountain huts, water points and lift stations along the route, from OpenStreetMap
• An SOS quick reference and an emergency beacon that composes your exact position
• The Swiss hiking scale (T1–T6), with every grade's provenance shown
Afterwards:
• Every recording kept, drawn on a map, and exportable as a timestamped GPX track that Strava, Garmin Connect and Komoot can import
• Ratings, notes, photo memories and a hiking journal
• Goals, badges and lifetime statistics
Swiss Hike is honest about what it does not know. A difficulty grade from OpenStreetMap is labelled community data, not an official SAC rating. Cable-car timetables and fares are not guessed - the app points you at the operator. Where a hut or a webcam has not been sourced for a trail, the app says so rather than showing an empty screen.
In English, German, French and Italian.
All data comes from free, public, key-free Swiss federal and open-data services. No account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics. Your hikes stay on your device.
