Cool concept

Very cool concept and the app works very well so far. A couple things I would change is one, even though I have some artists and albums from before the year 2000 in my crate and rotation, I never really get recommended stuff from before 2015 even. so I would maybe try and change that but also maybe it just doesn’t know my taste well enough yet. One more feature that would be cool is maybe make an option to choose what your favorite song was in the recap. I’ve had a lot of albums where I clicked “not for me” or “liked it” but I really liked one song and I want to hear more of that sound. Anyways other then that this app is great and with more updates and features I could see this becoming one of my favorite apps on my phone.

Hi, Thanks so much for your feedback! I actually took a lot of it on board when building V2 (it’s out now btw). I have extended the catalogue back to 1965 and expanded it fairly significantly, so you should be seeing more stuff coming through soon. I also wanted to clarify that synff tries to match you with albums we think you're going to find interesting. We don't generally limit recommendations to a specific era, but the recs are likely going to improve based on feedback over time. Also, the favourite song feature sounds really rad! I will definitely look at adding it in a future version, so watch this space!

Cool concept

First off I want to start by saying this is a really cool concept. I think this app could become really popular with more marketing and stuff.
A few things I recommend adding:
1. An “I’ve already listened to this” button. The algorithm is very tailored to your taste so it can give you albums that you’ve already spent alot of time with. And if you press the button it could give you another album and over time it would recognize what artists you have listened to their whole discography.
2. I feel like I don’t get recommended older albums as much even though some artists in my crate and in my rotation are older. I would love for atleast one of my recommendations to be from the 70s or 80s.
3. Maybe an option between “not for me” and “I liked it” because a lot of the times I feel very between those 2 maybe like a “it was cool” or “i liked some songs” also the “I bought it” option is cool but I feel like me and most other people don’t buy albums within a week of hearing them for the first time. I buy an album when it sits with me for a long time and gains meaning within my life. So maybe change the option to something like “liked it so much I would buy it” or something.

Integrity and class

This app is exactly what the music industry needs. Connecting artists with people that will actually like their music, and in a way that keeps music lovers curious and committed to the art form

Response from developer

That’s exactly the spirit we built this around - thank you for noticing the intent. We’re glad it’s helping keep curiosity alive between artists and listeners.

it’s about time

We’ve lost touch with the storytelling involved with making music, and this is the exactly where synff reintroduces us. Instead of stabs in the dark at ‘you might like’, or autoplay-slop, synff carefully considers musical history, influences and media types to help me discover and rediscover music - bringing listening back to being intentional, and not just an ‘in the background’

Glad synff is helping you listen with intention again - that’s exactly what we were aiming for. It means a lot to hear it brings back the story behind the music.

Helped me reconnect with music

Because it recommends full albums I’m not just passively consuming the music that is fed to me in a playlist, I’ve got the context for why something was recommended and I have been buying albums again. synff has helped me reconnect with the music I love

Response from developer

It’s great to hear synff brought back that deeper connection and got you buying albums again. Knowing the context behind a full record makes a real difference, and that’s exactly what we hoped for.

A new way to reengage with music

Using synff has reignited my interest in music. Instead of just being fed endless similar tracks and artists by streaming services, which made my taste basically cookie cutter, I’ve been able to get out of my rut and actually SEE what I like. With 6 new recommendations each week, I have plenty to sink my teeth into - plus the capture is hella useful (more so than Shazam cos it actually keeps a history).

If you’re looking to dictate your own interests and step off of manufactured music feeds, synff is it.

Glad synff helped you break out of that loop - those weekly picks are meant to give you room to choose. The capture history is something we built exactly for that kind of digging.

Update. We'll see how it goes.

I can't get beyond the selecting artist bit, 'cause it seems I can't select an artist through the search.

EDIT: I see where I went wrong. Add AJR I beg of you. And make it more clear that some artists cannot be selected, maybe just... Remove them from the search feature in the beginning?

EDIT 2: it seems they just do it automatically, and quite fast. This looks good so far! I can't wait to see more!

Thanks so much for the review! Glad you found your way in the end but please feel free to reach out with any questions in the future. A short explainer: if an artist isn’t in synff yet you can request them and we will automatically integrate them and notify you once they are in.
