About

Take keeps a novel as a folder of Markdown files with its whole history, and the iPhone app carries it with you. Pull a project from the git remote your Mac backs up to; read, edit, make takes, and back up from the phone. Every scene can have takes: alternate versions written side by side. Keep the one that works, discard the rest, and bring a discarded take back whenever you change your mind. Compare any two versions paragraph by paragraph, with the words that changed picked out, and fold a take into the draft one paragraph at a time. Mark milestones and see, scene by scene, what has moved since. Map a chapter: every scene with its takes beneath, each with its words against the draft and its saves. Search the whole draft. Keep notes in the prose that never reach the page. Counts and targets: words per chapter and for the whole, today's words, a target for the day and for the book. Export as Markdown or PDF to the Files app, a chapter or the whole. Back up the whole project, takes and all, to a git remote of your own, and pull what the Mac wrote. Untangle asks Apple's on-device model to lay out a scene's beats, on an iPhone with Apple Intelligence. Three Takes, with your own Anthropic API key, writes three angles on a scene and lands each as a take for you to read, keep or discard. Your manuscript is a git repository. Any other tool reads it as plain files; git reads it as history. Take has no account, no server, and sends nothing anywhere unless you ask.
