takt shows you the few numbers worth seeing while you drive, and a short read on the drive once you park. Plug an ELM327-class Bluetooth LE adapter into your car's OBD-II port and takt reads what your car is actually doing: engine speed, oil and coolant temperature, load, battery voltage, fuel level. On an electric car, pack temperature and state of charge. TWO REGISTERS While you are driving, takt is an instrument. Large numerals, no chrome, nothing that asks for a second look. Once you park it becomes something to read: what the drive was, how long, how far, and the one thing worth noticing about it. CARPLAY AND LOCK SCREEN The same live values appear on CarPlay. During a drive, a Live Activity keeps distance and the value worth watching on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. BUILT FOR TWO CARS, HONEST ABOUT THE REST Two cars have been measured signal by signal against the vehicle itself, each with a purpose-built screen: the 2024 Toyota Tundra and the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4. Every other car gets the standard OBD-II reading. Most petrol and diesel cars will produce a working glance, because those values are part of the standard. What your car reports depends on the manufacturer, and takt only shows values it can actually read and trust. A missing number is takt declining to guess rather than takt failing. Electric cars other than the ID.4 are the current gap. The values that matter on an EV are mostly manufacturer-specific rather than standard, so they have to be built one car at a time. TRY IT WITHOUT A CAR Tap SAMPLE DRIVE on the first screen. It replays a real recorded drive through the whole app, so you can see exactly what takt does before buying an adapter. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE No servers. No accounts. No analytics. No tracking. takt does not read your VIN. Route recording is off until you turn it on. Leave it off and takt never asks for location. Turn it on and takt records where you drive into that drive's own log, on your iPhone — including while the screen is locked, with iOS showing its location indicator the whole time. Drawing a map is the one thing takt sends anywhere: it asks Apple for imagery of the area shown. Nothing takt records leaves your phone. Session logs and trips are stored on your iPhone, visible to you in the Files app, and yours to delete. WHAT YOU NEED - An ELM327-class Bluetooth LE OBD-II adapter.
