Storytelling until the arena takes over

I enjoy coming up with an interesting concept and background and seeing how it writes the description and art. The basic background stories are quite cliche so I use a custom generated one. Guided stories can be fun as well, and you can write characters with interconnected backgrounds that reference other heroes you, have, though the system wants to write overly heavy emotions and it takes reminding every chapter to keep a different tone. In addition, the game steers everyone to this pan-dimensional arena setting, which means the last chapter and a half are always the same and take away significance of the origin worlds. A self-contained background ending within the chosen realm would be more interesting for those of us wanting story. The arena part appeals to me very little and I don't care about tournaments. I would rather continue stories in the realm I picked and feel like the hero exists in that setting.

This may be the first review I’ve ever given, but it is so well deserved. This game is genuinely the best game I have ever came across. Sure there are a few bugs, but what can you expect it’s a newer game by a solo developer. The dev releases updates nearly every day trying to fix bugs users notice. The dev truly cares about the users gameplay. Additionally I personally don’t think there are a ton of ads, ads are needed for the game to be free and I know a lot of games by bigger developers with 10x the amount of ads. Definitely give this game a go you can see how hard the dev works to improve the game for the users!

Seriously, what is your unhinged and completely random moderation

Supposed “provocative” content is okay, yet the word swimsuit isn’t. Swimsuit. Even with a contest that is literally about dressing a character FOR THE BEACH. Despite that, thousands of character images are practically naked in those very swimsuits. What the actual f are you guys even doing? Make up your mind it’s either allowed or it’s not.
Also, the devs are major hypocrites or just not very smart. They say “no sexual content” yet they themselves have put in stuff about brothels and literally entire factions of courtesans.

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback, and I'm sorry for the frustration here. You're right that the word-level filter can be overly aggressive and inconsistent with what actually makes it through on the image side — that's a false-positive issue I'm actively working to improve. To clarify the policy itself: only explicit sexual content is off-limits, while thematic elements in the setting (like factions or locations) are part of the world-building rather than user-generated explicit content. I appreciate you taking the time to point this out, and I'm always working to make moderation more consistent.

Would be 5 stars if it wasn’t for ads

Enjoy all aspects of the game, especially character creation and how much liberty you have in creating, ads are tolerable but sometimes ad plays and after it’s done, nothing happens and have to watch another ad so you can keep progress going, that’s pretty much only complaint about ads I have

Amazing AI role player

I love how the AI makes a random story for characters and backstories and I even love how the AI makes the battles play out and remembers certain details of your characters and what relationships your characters have with each other and how it effects they way they work together

Not what I hoped for

I love the idea of this game, but it took too long to get to the point where I actually got to play it. Instead of being able to play through with the character you create, you have to create two. Then you have to go through the origin story for each of those characters before you can do anything with them. This wouldn’t be so bad, except each one has five sections and you have to either wait several hours between chapters or pay tokens to skip the wait (limited number each day).

I’m all for character creation but it took me four days to get through the first character build and I lost interest at chapter two of the second build. I never got past that, so maybe the game is fun but I’m too impatient to go through the whole process a second time

Very Exciting and Fun

If you love creating stories and designing characters in detail while also reading their detailed fights and stories. You will love this game. Especially if you’re in to D&D.

I’m a writer so i enjoy creating my own characters. Afterwards the Ai designs what they might look like and i can input what i want them to look like if i dont like the design.

Also you get 1v1 fights pitting your character against others. You can also create items for them that adds to their power, and even that has its own story. You only put in a few words to give the Ai an idea of what you want and it creates an image of what it looks like. So much more other stuff

Pretty fun

I’ve been playing the game now for a little over a week maybe 2 weeks and it’s definitely been a fun distraction. Albeit, a ton of ads but that’s the price you pay for not subscribing or paying for anything by. The AI does a good job at creating your characters and giving them a fun story and even creating images and allowing you to alter the images as much as you can, so long as you know how to word things. The stories are fun and the fights are entertaining, you can skip the narrations if you want and you have 2 fights a day that are ad-free. Sometimes it feels like the AI has no logic but who am I to complain when it’s all made up anyways. I guess it adds some whimsy and keeps you from saying that your characters can never be killed or defeated so that it’s fun and fair for everyone. All around, fun game and easy to put down and let the ads run while you do another task

Pretty cool game. 🙂

The only issue I have is that I am blind and use a screen reader. It would be awesome if this game was made fully accessible. I had a hard time starting my character and had to have assistance. With that being the case, I am probably only going to have one character because I don’t always have somebody around. I can understand the anime costing points, but creating audio files for free would greatly enhance the experience of a blind player. Having voiceover read my story is rather dull and annoying. Lol! All in all, very well done and it would be even more so with better accessibility.

Yay

This game is pretty great. If it was improved upon slightly it would be even so much better! This game should have a way to input your own picture to be your character’s avatar so you could be your own hero! Like maybe in a way the ai could use your picture but change the costume or hair and eye color! And more class choices would be great and level up systems like being able to unlock a fifth ability and more items. And a story mode! Like whatever world your character is in for example if there were cool game modes that you could explore that world in cool ways. Otherwise I am a huge fan! The game is slightly clunky with minor glitches but really fun! I am gay and write my character is a boy witch and it makes me character always be a girl and that is annoying. Otherwise I am a huge fan!

Thank you so much for the awesome review and all the ideas! Custom avatars, more classes, story modes — I'd love to add things like these over time. I'll also look into the glitches, and into the issue with your character coming out as a girl when it shouldn't. Every player should be able to make the hero they want. So glad you're enjoying Taleborn. I'll keep working to make it even more fun! 🙏

Great!

It’s really good to describe but maybe too much description for my taste. I would love to see this with more images.

So much fun

A unique take on text based battles and story adventures. Make any character you can think of.

Wonderful Game

I love the immersive story telling aspect, from being able to put your own ideas into the character’s story line, completing a text based dungeon and receiving rewards.

The multiple choice on how to deal
with each scenario your hero’s face is so awesome it really makes you read into the situation and choose the best outcome possible… sometimes there is no good outcome. It is about choosing an outcome that affects your heroes the least.

The only constructive feedback I have would be : It would be great if there was a numeric value/function associated with the skills in terms of damage, stealth, healing, damaged blocked/ returned.

I think this game is awesome!! if you don’t like reading maybe it’s not for you but what’s not to like when your imagination is guided by such visual storytelling 5/5

The Future of Interactive Storytelling

I thought this was going to be another “fun for a while” AI storybot to experiment with for a week then move on when I got bored. Months later and after probably 100 hours of entertainment, I am still delving into the many layers of gameplay. Not just fun and challenging, it really is nearly limitless in regards too creating characters and delving into a vast landscape of compelling narrative opportunities.

If I had a criticism for the game I would say the AI generated battle reports are a little too wordy. Some aspects of the dialogue are not realistic and sometimes a little generic.

I do appreciate the creator of the game is very actively engaged with the growing community and making the experience as fun as can be, consistently fixing issues & expanding features.

After wasting a lot of time messing around with other AI generative apps trying to find a decent fantasy storyteller, I have finally found it in Taleborn, which far surpasses expectation.

Too many ads and duo is bugged

Why do I need to watch an ad to do literally anything? Good concept, but the amount of ads I need to watch is annoying. But what frustrates me is that apparently all my characters hate each other? Not a single one of my duo characters are compatible, even when I make them from the same world, type in exactly the same motivations, and have complementary classes

Love it

This game really helps me with my creative thinking. I really enjoy coming up with characters that feel like they fit into each of the realms.

My only problem is that there isn’t a realm that is based more on the modern world.
I was thinking that a realm based on something similar to the TORN browser game would be a rather fun and interesting addition to Taleborn’s roster

Amazing game

I am loving this app creating characters and seeing what the ai does to the ideas I give I also had some ideas for new world ideas

1) an anime inspired world think classic sailor moon and one piece

2) Music Apocalypse world this one is a bit out there but I love the idea of a world where music is how people fight from concertos of a classical beat down to the rough and ready grunge it’s an insane clash to see who rules the music apocalypse

Winky Face

Hi there Chief, before everything I really wanted to send my best regard. The game is actually one if not the best mobile game I installed since a long time. At first I thought it was just another scam such as all those other AI games we can find and I never thought I'd be please to be wrong once in my life and still, here we are. I have been playing for a while now maybe 2 or 3 months, I don't really remember but I was there before duo battle was introduced. Nowadays I feel like there is a new update ever week and its actually so cool. The freedom you get from the last update with the 'guiding' in story telling is really nice. I recommand anyone hesisating to at least try, if you like stories, epic fight and everything in between, this game is for you. You don't even have to spend that much because there is a lounge where you can read others people story at will and anyway with the arrival of the dungeon and soon the story mode, you'll have plenty to work with. Only hick is that the feature to have conversations with your own character feel off. Its so hard to actually start a conversation without them being weirded out or offended that a total stranger is adressing them. Big thanks to the dev, we need more passionate people like you. Keep it up !

It’s actually a vary decent game

I really wasn’t sure what to expect when downloading this, I understood it was a text based game so there isn’t really controlling anything and as my first text based game, I’m fairly happy with it as the AI reads the story you provide or the prompts for character creation fairly well and generates the art, skills, backstory and story arcs based on that fairly well and are vary detailed.

The draw backs are the hero duels fight stories do get repetitive and the 1v1 duels are the only game mode you’ll have until you complete your hero’s backstory and story board and it can take up to a week to complete that

I gave the game 5 stars just because the sheer amount of variation in hero’s you can create is wild same with the skills and stories generated by the AI from your prompts definitely has given me days worth of reading and possibly even more to come

Response from developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. I’m really glad to hear that, even as your first text-based game, you had a positive experience. It means a lot.I also truly appreciate the feedback about the repetitive duel stories and the limited game mode early on. That’s valuable insight, and I'll definitely keep working on adding more variety and improving the overall flow.

I just can’t stop

Very addictive! I don’t play any of my old games now. I pretty much have this going all day managing my characters and levelling them up
