So disappointing!!

Great layout, with all the potential. But, go to the voice selector and no option can be used! Even if they are already installed on my phone!

Response from developer

Please email me for assistance at support@talkfor.me I want to understand the issue you are having and find a solution.

I gave it 5 stars on Mac 3 years ago…

Everything looks OK but at some point it lost the ability to speak on Mac. I have not evaluated the ability to do set up on the Mac and then backup and get that to an iPhone or iPad (and yes I know it is not certified for Mac but this is still kind of sad). There are other apps for Mac but this was at one time a great option for people like my son.

Hi PWD-dad! We just opened up beta testing for our massive Version 3.3 update, which includes specific fixes to make the app run safely and reliably on Apple Silicon Macs for your son. I just sent a TestFlight invitation to your email address—if you don't see it in your main inbox, please check your junk/spam folder. We would love to have you both test it out!

Excellent for autistics

I’m autistic and sometimes can’t speak. This app is simpler and easier to use than symbol based alternatives. This is my favorite speech app by far.

I had great hopes…

I absolutely despise apps that don’t have tutorials or instructions. so uninstalled it is

App crashes

The app often crashes when I press the button to let it talk. They should fix whatever causes it.

The only app like this

I suffer with intermittent muteness, lasting months. This is such a fantastic app if you want to have conversations with people. It’s the only one of its kind. I have searched for alternatives but they do not allow for predictive text, or stock phrases. I can only use Samantha as a voice- I would happily pay to have alternatives, but that’s a minor thing. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much

After gaining a moderate speech impediment from oral cancer I needed something to help me communicate. Particularly while speaking on the phone which was a nightmare. This app is a godsend. And it's free. It's not ad-supported, it's completely free. Thank you!

Works so well

The app is great. Easy to use, good choice of accents. I wish the people “listening” would stop talking over it though.

I'm sorry, but it's really bad.

I really don't like to rate apps badly, but this one is really rough. I'd keep looking.

Great app for MOST - Works on M1 Mac

Really useful app, simple clean UI, easy to customize, works on M1 Macs and iPad with intuitive touch interface on iPad and with simple easy mouse integration on both. Speech is clear and the rate is easy to customize. In many ways the app has a very professional feel well suited to anyone from adults to students (perhaps as soon as they can read). I would go five stars except for some minor things about the UI. First, if you can read this is a fantastic UI that feels clean and intelegent but if you can't you may have challenges - I can't find a way to use icons, pictures, or colors. Second, the main screen is what it is - I couldn't add additional custom "sayings" to this screen - HOWEVER, there is an archive feature which is not exactly intuitive but does let you build up and recall what you want to say - worth checking out and taking the time to learn. As I said - the app has a simple clean UI and changing it (beyond maybe the ability to choose different color themes) could ruin its professional feel.

If you require colors, symbols, pictures - look elsewhere.

God-Send for Vocal Chord Disorders

I use this every single day, all day long. I have a vocal chord disorder called Functional Dysphonia. This is how I communicate with everyone. I can even type to speak on the phone by putting my phone near my ipad to hear the words. I don’t know what I would do with this wonderful app! Thanks so much to the developers! I would love to hear more voices that sound more natural— but still thankful for this way to communicate!

With the latest version on your iPad or iPhone you can make a phone call or a FaceTime audio call and then open the Talk For Me - Text to Speech app and automatically the spoken text will play through to the other caller. You no longer have to use the two devices. Please try it. I have made numerous calls to family, friends and even companies with no problems. I really appreciate your review!

Absolute life saver

I’m Autistic, & when I get very overwhelmed, I can’t talk out loud. I recently had to go to a hospital’s emergency department when this happened, & used this app to speak with the medical staff.

It worked well. There were a few times when the staff asked me another question while I was typing my response to the previous question, but that’s more on them than the app.

I also have vision problems, & the fact the default buttons are large is super helpful. Being able to save phrases is also a life saver.

I can’t thank the dev enough for not only making a great accessibility app, but also making it super cheap & without ads! It’s rare for that to happen nowadays.

Good, but how exactly do you archive a sentence??

I got Talk for Me today and like it so far, but I can’t figure out how to archive a sentence. I am wondering how to archive a conversation. 11/23/21-I figured out how to archive a sentence. I really like Talk for Me. Thank you for making it. I saw that there’s a new update and I’m curious about how you’d use the update.

Invisible text

I really like the app except I can’t see the text I am typing. Maybe it is in some kind of white font? But I don’t see any way to change it. :(

Ummm

What happened to nicky’s voice?

Doesn't play as background app

Not useful if I'm required to have my phone open and this app open to hear the text read. Needs to function while in the background.

No audio after only a week

App stopped using audio after a week. I have been unable to find any settings or support for this app. Looks like it could have been a good app but there’s a complete lack of support. I will have to find another app to use since I can not find a solution for this issue. None of the other apps on my brand new iPhone are having this issue please add some info on your app at least for FAQs

Issue with custom buttons

When filling in the custom buttons you cannot see the text as you type it in the white box

Otherwise great app

Très utile.

Merci, c'est vraiment très utile quand on a une infection aux cordes vocales.

Excellent

I rarely take time to review apps. In fact this is my first but I had to commend the developer for making such a functional app completely free. Works flawlessly.
