What's New in Talk Tiles AAC
2.2
July 9, 2026
TalkTiles 2.2 introduces the Keyboard — a type-to-speak page for spelling users — and caregiver-selectable grid sizes that keep every tile exactly where your learner expects it. NEW: KEYBOARD (TYPE TO SPEAK) • Type anything and hear it spoken in your chosen voice, rate, and pitch • Word suggestions as you type: completions mid-word, next-word ideas after a space • Quick Phrases — five pinned phrases for urgent moments ("I need a break", "Bathroom please"). Caregivers can add, rename, and reorder them in Settings • Recent — your last 20 phrases; tap to edit, or tap the speaker to say it again • Works fully with Bluetooth keyboards: type and press Return to speak • Caregivers can show or hide the Keyboard tile, synced across devices NEW: GRID SIZES & STEADY LAYOUTS • Choose a grid size for each board: 3×4, 4×5, 5×8, or 6×10 • Tiles keep their exact position — adding, hiding, or removing a tile never shuffles the rest of the board • Empty cells are allowed, so boards can grow at your learner's pace • Hidden tiles leave quiet blank space instead of reflowing the layout • Moving is always explicit: drag a tile to an empty cell, or onto another tile to swap • Changing a board's width offers a choice: keep every tile in place, or reflow to fill the new grid ALSO IN 2.2 • Take a photo with the camera when adding a custom tile image, or pick from your photo library • Usage Insights can now record grid changes, tile masking, and typed speech — stored on this device only, never uploaded • Layout and legibility fixes throughout Settings As always: speaking, existing boards, and saved vocabulary never lock behind a subscription.
