Promising start, still a ways to go

There are people out there looking for a successor to the old 2D-style bitmoji. This is the best attempt I've seen, and the developers deserve a lot of credit for that. The stickers are beautiful, fun, and do a decent job of recreating the likeness of the user. However, I think the app still has a ways to go. Part of the problem with relying on AI for the backend is that you're limited by what that a particular API is capable of. For example, if the avatar it creates doesn't really resemble you, your tools for fixing it are minimal. It's also constrained because it's based off a single photo. You also can't change the clothing (which is half the fun of stuff like this.) Lastly, I have no problem paying for good software, and the AI costs are real. But what they're charging for the subscriptions is excessive.

Response from developer

Thank you for the honest and detailed feedback. On resemblance: if you share your user info with me on Discord, or anywhere else I provide support, I can look into what went wrong. Most users have been happy with the likeness, so I would like to see your case. You can also pick a different photo or re-roll the seed sticker at any time. Also there are settings for: gender, eye colour, hair colour, skin tone, body type and BMI to guide the model. On clothing: outfit creation, management and changing is an upcoming feature, along with group, friend and pet stickers. Coming soon. On price: the user base is still tiny and the AI and infrastructure costs come out of my own pocket as a solo dev, so I cannot afford to charge much less right now. As the user base grows I want to introduce regional pricing adjusted for local purchasing power and lower prices overall, since the costs amortise across more users. Lastly: the project is still very young, and that has its upsides. Feedback like yours is heard and acted on, and you can work directly with the dev to fix issues and shape what comes next. Two stars feels a bit harsh given that, but either way I am happy to help any user get a better experience. Reach out if you want to. Thank you.
