What's New in Tamp

1.5.0

August 11, 2026

Scan the bag. SCAN TO LOG Point your camera at a bag of coffee and Tamp fills in the rest — roaster, bean, origin, process, tasting notes. Check what it found, correct anything it got wrong, and the bean is in your collection. When a coffee isn't in the catalog yet, Tamp reads what it can straight off the label. You start from something rather than a blank form. ALSO IN THIS VERSION Bean photos that never reached the server now recover on their own. The app no longer signs you out when the network hiccups. The brews list is quieter, and a recipe stays tied to the bean and method you dialed it in on.

Finally, a Coffee App That Gets It Right

I’ve tried a number of coffee logging apps over the years, and Tamp stands out because it strikes a great balance between simplicity and useful detail.

Unlike many apps that either overwhelm you with data or are too basic, Tamp makes it quick to log a new coffee while still remembering everything that matters—bean origin, roast, tasting notes, and brew recipes. Being able to save brewing parameters and recall them when you buy the same coffee again is a feature every home barista will appreciate.

What really sets it apart is the discovery aspect. The integrated directory of specialty roasters with live catalogues is something I haven’t seen implemented this well in comparable apps. It makes exploring new coffees almost as enjoyable as recording the ones you’ve already tried.

The interface is clean, fast, and clearly designed by people who actually enjoy specialty coffee. Offline support, cloud sync, and personal taste analytics are thoughtful additions without making the app feel cluttered.

If you’re serious about coffee—or simply want to remember which beans you loved and how you brewed them—Tamp is one of the most polished and practical coffee journals available today. Highly recommended.
