About
Tāra calculates the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava calendar for wherever you are. Every date is worked out from sunrise at your location, so Ekādaśī, fasting days and festivals fall on the right day whether you are in Vṛndāvana, London or Chapel Hill.
THE CALENDAR
• The tithi, pakṣa, nakṣatra and māsa of each day
• Ekādaśī and fasting days, with the time to break the fast
• Festivals, and the appearance and disappearance days of ācāryas
• Sunrise and sunset for your location
• Your own dates, added by Western date or by tithi
REMINDERS
• A reminder before Ekādaśī, festivals, Pūrṇimā and Amāvasyā, at the time you choose
• Quiet hours, so nothing arrives while you sleep
FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
• Enter a birth date, time and place to see each day's tārā bala and candra bala
• Your tithi birthday each year, with a reminder
• The sky at the moment of birth, and the grahas in the sky today

What's New in Tāra
1.1
October 7, 2026
- Each Ekadasi now shows its own name. - The break-fast time now appears the day after the fast, in the Observances list, and is calculated from that morning's sunrise. Before, it often showed the wrong time. - The tithi times say when it began yesterday or ends tomorrow. - Birthdays of the people you add now appear on the day, with a reading for each person.
