Absolutely amazing!
I decided to give Tavo a try, as it's my first time using AI for chatting/roleplay. The tutorials for setting up an API connection, making characters and such were really helpful and it works perfectly! Even chat themes are customizable, only thing I wish was more explained is how, and where, to find Tavo JSON chat themes to import, as I can't seem to find any when searching online...

I love it, is my replacement for silly tavern. Please devs keep working on it, this app is a masterpiece. Also a suggestion, please work on a weird bug that it makes the app close itself while changing ai models with open ai providers option. Besides that, this app is perfect. Love the privacy and respect for the users.

Suprisingly really good
Hope they don't start trying to extract money out of ppl, then id just host sillytavern but id prefer to keep using this since I only use AI on my phone.
It's really easy to throw a couple bucks in openrouter and get this set up, chat and story quality using deepseek 3.2 is higher than most paid platforms and youd have to use it all day and night to hit 1 dollar a day, cheaper than most montly subs if you play 3-5 hours a day everyday or just ocasionally. My subs would always expire with me having played a day or two so I definitely prefer using an API myself and save money this way. You can optimize to make it cheaper or more expensive/advanced.

this app is definitely the best ai app i’ve ever encountered and this would %100 be 5 stars if i was currently not bawling my eyes out, there were some glitches in the app, for some reason the bot decided to get stuck in thinking, i would completely exit out of the app but it didn’t fix the issue, so i decided to delete the app, i didn’t know that i had to back it up first, i’m sure you could guess what happened, had to completely reset my phone to the latest backup, which sadly was a couple days ago, meaning i lost a lot of bots, chats and personas i’ve been working hard on… could you at least have a log in, like google for us stupid users who some how miss the memo. It's really traumatizing to lose data as a CHAI AI escapee. Not to mention the money that just got wasted in those chats. Probably lost 30 dollars of chats.

Really good
Unlike other platforms, this app lets you customize how you want you to roleplay freely and super easily. It’s been amazing so far. It’s really easy importing characters, you just have to copy a link from a character from a different platform and then paste it into tavo and boom. It’s done. Just really well done. This app is my favorite so far.

It’s perfect
It’s what I been looking for that’s just like sillytavern took a lot of work to get set up and running and had a lot of help now I don’t need their other apps This lets me manage my own bots and and chats on my own server it let me be in control of it all unlike other ones.

While nowhere near as complex as SillyTavern, it has the core stuff you need to have an enjoyable experience.

Perfect for roleplaying, including group chats and importing characters with ease. My one and only little complaint is that when I receive a long response that fills up the screen, I can’t type a reply and look at the top of the message at the same time because it forces me to the bottom of the response and closes the text box if that makes sense. Would be very grateful if you could fix! ❤️

我在做一个随着对话角色而改变背景图片的功能，但是没办法在charaCard里面存储图片，更不能改图片，我想到的办法是一个个创建角色然后调用，但是会多出来很多实际不使用的角色，好麻烦，当然也可能是我没想出来好办法。可以给一个文件夹让用户上传图片和编辑吗？我个人真的很需要。
还有玩的久了世界书和角色之类的会很多很乱，如果能有分组存放的文件夹机制就太好了。

Silly Tavern: But Phone
Got the app because I've been using ST on my laptop for months and the process of downloading it on IOS confused me terribly, so this was definitely an amazing find.
It's essentially the same as ST (if you're coming from it like I did) but it does lack some QOL features that ST had (which is also why I've removed a star).
Small things that I'm not the biggest fan of: the message display. Like with other programs, you can generate multiple responses to the message you sent and look through them. However, Tavo will not let you look through responses before the current one (e.g. if you genned 5 responses, you're on response 4 and you want to go to response 3, you can't go directly from 4 to 3, you have to go 4-5-1-2-3 to get to the third message.) It's more a personal peeve with the app than anything, but it is quite annoying. Especially because the buttons to reroll a message, shuffle through messages, continue the latest message, and write for user are ALL right next to each each and quite tiny. I've fatfingerd to continue instead of re-roll many many times. Another thing is the ability to tag bots. On ST, I was a very heavy tagger because I had 300+ bots and it's nearly impossible to keep up with that. From my experience with Tavo, tags essentially do nothing? Or at least nothing I've noticed. They don't show up when searching through bots, and they seem to be little more than flavor text.
Even then, those are my only true issues with the app. It's amazing in every other way. Perfect for whenever you need it and convenient to use anywhere! Love it.

the best ever app for rp
the idiots who ruin the rating by giving one star have obviously confused this app with character.ai, cause this is a fronted app for comfy roleplay with a bunch of functions for those who know at least a lil abt api, css, scripts and etc. this is a simpler analogue of sillytavern, which, btw, doesn’t have ‘free keys’ and characters cards. all the character cards need to be dragged from other sites. nothing can be free forever under capitalism. even deepseek isn’t free anymore. so whiners who want everything for free can safely turn back to character.ai and it use ‘for free’. me personally adore this app. very user-friendly and intuitive interface. 🫶

Tavo is a fun AI RP chat app with a clean UI and very responsive system, but it’s missing the feature that would push it into “must-use” territory: asset support. Please add emotion assets (expressions/mood states the character can reliably use) and image assets (character/scene images the chat can reference or trigger).
For context, another RP app/community tool called Risu.ai does this by letting creators attach modular “asset support cards” (think: plug-in packs) and character modules (their newer “V3” approach) so a character can ship with bundled emotions + images in a structured format (they use something called charx to package character data). You don’t need to copy them, but the idea is proven: treat assets as first-class, shareable modules. If Tavo adds something like this, roleplay quality and character consistency jump immediately.
