This app was great 2 years ago, no pay, draw whatever you want but now everything has a paywall behind its monthly subscription, all of the tools you could ever want (but you have to pay 3 dollars a month) folders to organize your work (but you have to pay 3 dollars a month), EVEN Put pictures of your favorite things into your drawings (but you have to pay 3 dollars a month) you see what I mean, this was great but like most things, money ruined it

I have used sketches school for like 5 or so years now and they have now made almost all of the features cost a membership, all of the tools used to be free and they were extremely useful for drawing. I deleted it for space then when I re downloaded it, all of the free features costed money. The features you can use are a pencil, rubber, ruler/symmetry tool and the ABC (text) tool. This was genuinely a shock to me because I have heard of things like this happening (apps they have used for years starting to cost money) but I didn’t think that this app would do that…
Overall this app is only really worth it if you have the membership so I would not suggest downloading it unless you are prepared to buy the membership.

I used to use this app…
I purchased this app on June 26th, 2024 and for a while I loved this app with all my heart it made drawing and animating really easy to do and I can’t find any apps like this one. This app was also pre installed on my school iPad and I used it a lot and that’s how I got it on my personal iPad and from there I went on and started to draw my heart out. The application is still on my old iPad and still on version 2.4 of Sketches School. However the iPad is now broken and I was really sad letting go of it. I recently required an apple iPad in 2026 for my college classes starting up soon and got Déjà vu when I saw this app on the App Store. I went to go purchase the application thinking that I would be able to draw with no limits. The application had severe limits I used to use all the tools no problem but it’s now under a paywall or a subscription service. Please I’m begging the developers to give me access to an app that once had no limits of expression, I just want what I had with the free tools. I have the previous IPA and order history if there’s any way to get this app on this newer iPad without having to pay for the subscription because I was once a supporter of this app.

This used to be an amazing app, access to everything in this app and now you have to pay for a plan! I re-download this app to use the text feature on one of my photo’s and it told me to pay for a plan, i disagreed an I had one brush, one eraser, and verry few colour options. I would recommend to someone who likes art but doesn’t do it a lot and is not focused on getting better at art.

Reason why I have it 3 stars
Good pensil quality sound quality is pretty good it just you have to pay for more tools which is the only thing that throw me off that’s it so that’s why I have it 3 stars
