About
News from Toronto, the GTA and across Ontario, plus the Canadian and world stories Toronto people want to know about, built for the way you actually read it: on the platform, on the walk to work, ten minutes before bed.
TDot News covers the city, the region and the province: City Hall and Queen's Park, the TTC and the traffic, housing and rents, the storms, the byelections, and what any of it means for the people who live here. It follows the bigger stories that land in Toronto too: decisions in Ottawa, the economy, interest rates and jobs, trade and tariffs, and events abroad that reach the city. Beyond Toronto that means Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Markham, Oakville, Milton, Ajax and the wider GTA, and further out to Brantford, Cambridge, Norfolk County and Haldimand. It is also written for people who are new to Canada, with plain-language coverage of Express Entry, the Ontario Provincial Nominee Program and IRCC changes as they happen.
WHAT THE APP DOES
Home
Headlines and top stories picked by the newsroom, then everything else, newest first. Anything filed in the last few hours is marked, so you can see at a glance what has happened since you last looked.
Your edition
Pick your city or region, or tap Use my location, and Home leads with the headlines and top stories for your edition. Change it whenever you like.
Shorts
One story per card, swiped vertically. The day's news in a couple of minutes, with a link to the full story when you want more.
My TDot
Follow exactly what you care about, as specifically as you like: Politics in Brantford, Housing in Mississauga, Immigration everywhere. Your follows become your own feed.
Saved
Bookmark a story and it stays on your phone. Saved articles open in full when you are underground with no signal, images and all.
Alerts
Turn on notifications and hear about the stories you follow, plus the big ones the newsroom flags for everyone. Choose a full story alert or a short card you can read in the notification itself. Notifications are off until you ask for them, and you can turn them off at any time.
Search
The whole archive, by place, name or topic.
BUILT TO BE LIGHT
Images are sized for your phone before they reach you, so a scroll through the feed costs a fraction of the data a web page would. Dark mode follows your phone. Text size is yours to set.
NO NONSENSE
No account. No sign-in. No ad networks and no advertising trackers. No collecting what you read. Home and Shorts may show a few ads from local businesses, sold by TDot News itself and labelled "Advertisement".
