Inutile

. Cher / peu pratique,peu intuitif, usine à gaz
Ne pas acheter !

Response from developer

"peu pratique, peu intuitif" C'est votre jugement. Par contre "usine à gaz" mériterait d'être justifié par au moins un exemple de complexité inutile.

Brilliant App

Very versatile, lots to import from Classclef.

Rating Pop-Ups

The developer ignores iOS settings to disallow ratings requests and spams users with its own pop-ups begging for ratings. This willful disregard for user preferences is an automatic 1 star rating.

LOVE THIS, but…

I love the immediate intuitive usability of this app, but wish the manual were easier to use. I would love a search function for the manual. We’re not all music pros, so simply trying to find how the special notation works is NOT obvious. I can see where and how to PUT in “D.C” and “al” and “Coda” and “Fine”, but to make them work on playback is another function… perhaps I am missing something obvious??
Otherwise, I love being able to score tablatures on my iPad with this app.

Not quite what I was hoping for

This tablet version isn’t incredibly intuitive, but that’s just a learning curve I suppose. What really bothers me is it says it supports a keyboard, but really you must use the virtual keyboard and the Apple Magic Keyboard is NOT supported. I was looking forward to this replacing my laptop for tab editing, but it’s awkward to use while I am also holding my instrument since I have to poke around on the screen. So there’s my biggest feature request. Until then I guess it’s back to pencil and paper.

Excellent app for guitarist

I like it and easy to use.

Maybe because I use Apple iPad. But a lot of the promised features don’t seem to work.

Response from developer

Sorry for the late reply. Could you please be more explicit about the missing features?

Superlative

This is a neat little program for musicians whether learning or fully fledged.
I have played for 55 years and though I still prefer to write on manuscript for working out ideas and retaining them mnemonically and as being a good sight reader, but I have found this little program more useful that much bigger and expensive software options; this fits in my pocket and the files can be easily shared.
I’m very happy with this purchase.
Not a bug in it and is thoroughly and well thought through.
All musicians should have this neat little program.

Response from developer

If all notes on the beat occupy all available positions, you can enter the text or diagram in 1/64 note mode, exactly one position later. You can also insert the text or diagram from the standard notation. TEFpad will find the first available position.

Functionality good. Pro version disappeared after purchase

I like this app and bought the pro version upgrade today but now the app has reverted to the LE version. Apple shows the pro purchase so what happened. Restoring the pro purchase was successful but I lost a significant amount of work.

Response from developer

Do you mean that during a session, the application reverted to a light version? Or was it a new session? I'm leaning towards the second hypothesis, as the LE or Pro version is tested only once at the start of a session, using your device's user preferences. But I have no explanation as to what could have happened.

Response from developer

TEFpad does not use the same system as GP for entering notes and their duration. I understand that you're confused, but is that a reason to condemn my app? For 25 years, they've been 2 different applications with their own logic.

Wonderful app for Logic Pro and piano apps

The Best App for writing Tablature for me.

I use this app for writing tab for bass guitar. I’ve tried other apps that offer similar functionality. None of them compare to the usability and completeness of TEFPad.
There is a bit of a learning curve to get proficient with it. However, the more you use it the faster you get. I feel that there are some things that aren’t covered very well in the user guide. But I still give this app a full 5 stars.

Do save your work in progress often, though.

Also, the support from the developer is outstanding.

TEFpad & Tabledit a great combo!

Using Tabledit on a MacBook Pro and Tefpad on an iPad for several years. Just could not manage without them. Support from the authors is excellent. Great job!

Not user friendly

The app assumes you know all the musical terms necessary to compose a song. The help function is useless. It throws items on the tab by all by itself, without any explanation as to why, and there is no information to learn from. As an example, trying to match the format of a tab I found in a book, it required a “double line” at the beginning of the measure. I found it in the pallet, tried to add it, but it wouldn’t show up. However, it did randomly place double lines on two other measures in the tab. And now I can’t get rid of them. Oh, how about the app crashing when you print? That’s fun too. Glitchy…but its all we have.

Response from developer

The double bar is placed at the beginning of the currently selected measure. It is true that the display does not update immediately when the palette is tapped. This is a bug. But when you remove it from the appropriate palette, the display updates and the double bar disappears. I would be very interested to have the tablature that makes the program crash in order to fix it but I know that as usual, you will not respond to this message :-(

Not so happy

I was using the lite version and then when I went and upgraded, wow buggy, buggy, buggy. Audio quits playing so I have to restart the app; trying to add song info is very temperamental, adding pull offs to the first couple of notes gives me a tie that spans two bars. It’s a bit clunky as it is with the lite version, but workable. Now very frustrated with the upgrade. Should have stuck with lite.

Response from developer

If there were two separate apps, one could imagine that one apps works less well than the other. But it is the exact same executable that goes into unrestricted mode. Under these conditions, I think it's more of a learn curve. When you enter a pull off, TEFpad looks for the next note on the same string. If it doesn't find it in the current bar, it looks in the next bar and if it finds a note, it displays the slur. I don't see what's absurd about this. But I must be missing something. Could you explain to me why you think TEFpad is at fault in this respect?

Not great

I bought this to import Guitar Pro files. This functionality works to a certain extent but with many errors. The triplets were replaced with quavers (deleting one of the triplet notes) and standard repeat barlines were deleted and replaced with segno symbols (which seem to be impossible to delete). On trying to correct the triplets, I discovered that “off” sometimes means “on” in the triplet button in the toolbar.
I tried creating a tab from scratch too and this was better, but still some of the button functions were inconsistant. I think I would have got there eventually but it took me an hour just to do a couple of bars of music so not worth the effort.
If you are prepared to put in the time and can overcome the frustrating interface then you could produce a tab eventually.
On the plus side, print formatting for tabs is the best you can get on iPad.

Great app

I’ve been using it for at least five years. Can do everything I need it to do.

Online helpful as needed

Would recommend

Pratique, quelques points a corriger

Revised Review

Thank you to the developers for your response. It still took me some time to figure out how to get multiple instruments but now that I have the program works for my needs.

Response from developer

Just open the Instrument window which allows you to add up to 16 instruments. Simply tap the tuning of the instrument. And please consider to update your review.
