Helpful

Super handy for quick simple tasks like dictating notes, sending prescriptions, reviewing labs etc. Would like to see some more functionality such as ability to fill requisitions, prescribeit integration, and more options when opening attached documents (rotate image, fax, etc.).

Cant see my notes

For some reason my notes are not showing up. Just blank

Scanning

Over all this is a very useful app. One feature that is not currently available and would be amazingly useful (especially with virtual care during the pandemic) is scanning. Currently photos can be taken and uploaded to the EMR but these photos cannot be emailed or faxed. The app should allow for scanning in pdf format from our phones. This way they could be securely uploaded without being saved in our phones - just like the photos are. But with the added bonus of being able to send them onward from the EMR.

Great but some functionality still needed

Has improved flat vastly over the last few years! I rely on this a lot when I’m not at home with my computer or at the office. But there are still a few things that need improving or fixing. First off why do I need to manually categorize just about every lab before I can review it (unlike on the desktop version)? This makes reviewing labs unnecessarily time consuming. Fix this please!!! Second thing, with all the remote work we are doing there are often forms that need filling and then scanning into the chart. Add a scanning feature similar to the the ability to add pictures!! That would be so useful and is very frustrating not to have.

Not there yet

App extremely slow to load and frequent errors make it hardly functional

Response from developer

A lot of time has passed since you rated the app. Have you seen the new features we added since you reviewed the app? By the way touch and face ID for iOS is coming to a release soon. If you want to share your experience with us please contact me at emrmobile@telus.com

Great promise, failed delivery

In concept an excellent way to access your EMR remotely with lots of built in functionality, however it is crippled by slow connection speed (regardless of wifi or data connection). Refreshes often timeout requiring a soft restart of the app. It is faster for me to login remotely via VPN on a PC to check my labs. It’s nice to see more updates to functionality, but all that is moot given the frustrating pace of the app.

Good alternative when PSS on desktop is not available

For some odd reason, the scroll feature is not available anymore, when editing notes. Please bring this back!

Response from developer

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems. As this is part of your EMR, you can call your EMR support when you experience problems with the EMR Mobile app. We have not removed scrolling from the app intentionally it is a bug and I will report it. however as I said before to have complete information about the issue, and your clinic, please call support and report the issue. I cannot identify you or the clinic based on your Apple ID. Thanks for letting us know and sorry for the delay in answering.

Worthwhile

This is a good way for a specialist to quickly scan the chart when not in the office
The ability to call patient directly from app is great

Response from developer

Glad to have a mobile app

It has been very useful to have a mobile app at all. I recognize the complexities of PS Suite might not translate 100% to mobile version. It’s helped me a lot to have it. Ability to bring in photos directly through app is Super useful. Ability to review and mark reports, message staff, add and edit notes— very convenient. Of course, it would be helpful to be able to adjust appointments, or to fax prescriptions. Maybe they’re working on it? Thanks.

Response from developer

Hello, I am glad you are finding the app useful, thanks a lot for your review. I also want to let you know that currently for PS Suite you can book a new appointment or cancel an existing one. Also if you have PS Suite eFax or Fax server, you can fax prescriptions from your mobile app, as long as the pharmacy in your address book has a valid fax number. If you wish to share your experience with me and our design team, please email me at emrmobile@telus.com and reference in the email your Apple !3456 ID so I can correlate it to this review. Keep updating your app, we are adding new functionality frequently. TELUS EMR Mobile Product Management

Worst app, waste of time and phone space

First, there are almost no relevant functions with this app. Second, the visuals are an absolute nightmare and seems to have been developed by someone who’s never used an app before or who does not understand the reality of a healthcare provider. Then, the whole app is not user friendly and crashes litteraly every 1-3 minutes. As an example, it crashed at least 5 times in the last 8 minutes. On top of all this, if you work in 2 different sites belonging to the same clinic, your calendars won’t merge. You’ll need two “accounts” with 2 different calendars. What a complete waste of time and headache. Speaking of the calendar, you can’t see more than a day at the time. This is ridiculous. It is a shame to call this nightmare an app. Shame on Telus for being so slow in the app game. Worst app in the history of apps. Worst of everything is it is very obvious that if you have a EMR from Telus other that Medesync, you’ll end up regretting it because Telus invests no money in their other EMR.

Telus, next time, I suggest you hire a tech savy healthcare provider as a consultant to teach you a thing or two about the important functions needed in an app.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems. As this is part of your EMR, you can call your EMR support when you experience problems with the EMR Mobile app. Also, I wanted to let you know, the app is frequently and actively used by more than 16,000 clinicians in Canada; most of them are happy, and keep on using it on regular basis, but as you they want to see more functionality being developed, which we are doing. I also wanted to let you know that we have several physicians on our design team, all of them with experience in EMRs, some of them with actual technical and software development background, 2 of them were founders of very successful Canadian EMRs. In addition to the many experienced developers, we also count with a complete user experience team. As part of the user experience, program we frequently interview existing and new users to understand better their needs, good and bad aspects of the app and their good and difficult experiences with it. Since I cannot identify you or your EMR from the app store reviews, please do not hesitate to contact me via emrmobile@telus.com to see if we can set a time for a call to understand better the issues you are facing. And please remember if the app crashes or does something that looks like a problem, please contact your EMR support number. Thanks for providing us feedback. TELUS EMR Mobile Product Manager

Medesync

Just introduced in my clinic. Very to access on my laptop MAC and easily downloaded tha EMR mobile version on my iPhone and iPad. Easy to access on all my platforms! Got my most recent lab and imaging results. Looking forward to expanding my use of this system. Looking like a winner, will write more reviews as I gain experience !

Unable to book appointments through app

Please develop the functionality to book appointments through the app!

Response from developer

Hello. Thanks for let us know what you want in the TELUS EMR Mobile app. The functionality to book a new appointment from the EMR Mobile app is already available for one of the supported TELUS EMRs (PS Suite), and is coming to others early next year. Unfortunately the user names posted in the App store do not allow us to identify you or your TELUS EMR, so invite you to send me an email directly to emrmobile@telus.com so we can exchange more information about your needs and your current EMR.

Very poor app

Has tons of potential, but like med access emr, is never updated to fix simple things to make emr more efficient. It’s almost as if Telus never speaks to the people who use it. Every gp and specialist using med access has identified same items which never get addressed. This app doesn’t work as they don’t ask the people who use it.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems and I apologize for the delay in answering. As this is part of your EMR, you can call your EMR support when you experience problems with the EMR Mobile app. I also wanted to let you know that we have a user research and feedback program for the TELUS EMR Mobile app. We cannot identify you or the contact information of your clinic but the apple user name posted in the review, so I want to invite you to write to emrmobile@telus.com so we can arrange an interview with the product design team to hear what you like and dislike, and in general your experience. This is not a replacement for support, technical issues or app bugs should be reported to support; rather this is an opportunity for you to be heard as we are constantly conducting these interviews, but the first step is for you to let us know you want to spend some time with our EMR Mobile design team. Thanks for providing us feedback. TELUS EMR Mobile Product Manager

Update not working

I generally like the app, but it is currently not working. Unable to scroll dates. Unable to log off. Once you log in nothing seems to work. I tried deleting and downloading a fresh app. Same thing. Needs an update ASAP.

Possibly the worst app in the App Store

**Revised review July 25/20

With so much potential to make a very user-friendly intuitive app to access medical records remotely to open up patient charts, and add an entry. This app is a fail in every respect. It’s very difficult and cumbersome to use.

Completely confusing interface. Presently a med access user

for most physician users we just want to be able to open up the app and:

1. Locate a patient medical record open up a simple window to add an entry at point of care

2.Open up labs and reports just as we do on the desktop web based version and review them and sign them off and complete them or generate a task to send to one of our MOA’s.However the interface on a smart phone or tablet needs to be much more simple, most MDs are not trying to do complex tasks on their mobile device buy try to use it at point of care (that’s why the ability to add a photo into the patient medical record is brilliant-and in my opinion the most useful part of the entire app)

-Presently it’s very difficult to quickly look at a patient and open up the medical record to add an entry. And I still have not found a way to simply go through all of my labs are reports remotely on this app and sign off on them or task them to someone else easily
-Even the language in the app is entirely different from the language used on the web-based interface so it’s very confusing to switch between the two. : for example if you can even open up a lab it says “archive” the lab but what is that? On the web based version to sign off on a lab you “complete” so it’s thoroughly confusing

-I only use it to input photos into the medical record otherwise it’s completely useless app

Hey Telus revamp this app and make it simple and user-friendly. Needs to be re-engineered from the ground up. There is a lot of potential here to really help docs/users.

Thanks again for giving us additional details on your difficulties navigating and using the app. As I mentioned before, as product manager of TELUS EMR Mobile app, I appreciate if you can contact me at emrmobile@telus.com. Based on your description above I assume you are an Med Access EMR user, but besides that I cannot identify you or your clinic to contact you. I cannot do a full tutorial here because the # of characters is restricted, but I invite you to review some short videos in our online help. From the app main menu (3 horizontal bars on the top-left corner), tapping on "Help" and looking for videos in the mail help page. You can also access them by manually visiting https://help.telusemrmobile.com/en/01_Introduction/Video_library.htm#Recording_notes_videos. Keep in mind the help is evolving as we add new functionality, so there are also topics in more detail from different sections. But the videos section is an excellent starting point. There is a general usage/navigation video at the top, that I recommend everyone to watch. There are other small videos focused on adding new patient visits (notes) for MA or processing labs. Just as a reference, you can search for any patient from the Main menu->Patients and start typing the last or first name, or the health number; this will produce a list of matching patients and you can select the the right one. Once on the patient chart journal view, entries are collapsed and ordered on chronological order (with focus on the most recent at the bottom). From there you can see a Fast access button (purple plus sign) that allows you enter new data in common observation templates. As I mentioned earlier, TELUS EMR Mobile is designed to work almost identically with 5 TELUS EMRs (Med Access, PS Suite, Wolf, KinLogix, and Medesync), so some terms might not be identical to the ones your desktop EMR uses. But since you did not find it intuitive or perhaps some terms confusing, I reiterate my invitation to contact us, so we can have a candid conversation and incorporate your input in our future development and design work. Thanks. - TELUS EMR Mobile Product Management

Nightmare

This app is a nightmare. Always getting error messages. Can’t log in half the time. Can’t see labs the other half the time. Difficult to sign off on labs. Tech Support sucks. No one knows how to fix anything. The only positive thing (when you can actually log in) is the camera feature.

Response from developer

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing some issues. As you mentioned you have already contacted your TELUS EMR support line I would like to personally follow up on your support cases and what is your situation. However, the information posted in the app store is not enough. Can you email me at emrmobile@telus.com, give us the support case numbers, and your clinic ID, also please identify in the email you apple visible name "britbjule" so I can correlate your ID here with your email. Otherwise it is impossible for me to identify what EMR you use, your support cases, or even your clinic ID. Thanks.

Useful app

This app is a major move in the right direction for PS Suite. I find it really helpful to check my schedule, send messages to my staff, and (my favorite thing) efficiently snap and securely upload photos to their EMR. One thing I’d love to see is improved dictation functionality. It’s already possible to use voice recognition to dictate a message, but for specialists if it were possible to dictate directly into a stamp pre-populated with other info in the patient’s CPP, it would make it extremely efficient to dictate consults using mobile devices. This would be great for clinic workflow. To my knowledge none of the current dictation software is compatible with PS on the computer, so if this functionality is added to the mobile app it will make the entire Telus EMR program much better. However, the app even in its current state is a useful complement to the computer-based program.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. We will be happy to have a one-one conversation with you to hear more about your current and future needs, but we are thrilled reading your comments here. Using the App Store IDs we cannot identify you, but if you are willing to give us some time on the phone, please email us to emrmobile@telus.com and we can arrange a time that is convenient for both, you and TELUS user research. Thanks - Product Management

Useless

Overall, PS not mobile device ready
About as useful as a banking app that only allows you to see your account balance.

Response from developer

Thanks for keeping us informed. As I mentioned before, EMR Mobile still provides only a subset of all the functionality of PS Suite EMR, which has been developed over more than 25 years to get to the point it is today. We continue adding functionality to EMR Mobile, but does not cover 100% of what you can do in your TELUS desktop EMR. I reiterate my invitation from last year to contact us to talk about your experience or ideas to improve or add the most valuable functionality you would like to see in TELUS EMR Mobile. You can contact me at emrmobile@telus.com. As a reference point, we have more 12,500 Canadian physicians actively using TELUS EMR Mobile with their EMRs, finding the app useful as they keep on coming to use multiple functions frequently, so that is why we would like to hear directly from you. Inutile

Application inutile.

Useless

New iPhone 11 Pro Max. I can’t view my own labs. Restricted access once access labs from inbox and even in patient’s chart. Called help desk 7X now, no ones has any clue how to fix it. One said it was phone (makes no sense - upgraded phone and same problem persists). Used administrative privilege to remove device and add using QR code and problem persists. Back end developers just don’t care or just don’t know how to even problem solve it. Absolutely useless app - the main functionality would be to review and clear labs while on the go.

Thanks a lot for your feedback and sorry for the delay on getting back to you. Please feel free to contact us at emrmobile@telus.com to provide us information about your support cases and the issues you are facing. Unfortunately here I only know your apple user name, so I cannot find your support cases or even your EMR clinic number. If you can send me via this email support case numbers or your clinic information I will check what is going on. You are right, it cannot be the phone, we test the app on multiple different phone and tablet models, including the one you have, so I have to investigate with the right information in my hands what issues and why there are happening to you. The only way to do that is to have more details, so please contact your EMR support or email me at the above address. As a reference point, we have more 12,500 Canadian physicians actively using TELUS EMR Mobile with their EMRs, finding the app useful as they keep on coming to use multiple functions frequently, so that is why we would like to hear directly from you.
