UPDATE – October 30, 2026 WARNING: READ THIS BEFORE PAYING FOR TEMPLIFY! Confusing billing & frustra
UPDATE – October 30, 2026
I wanted to update my original review because I believe in being fair and giving credit where it’s due.
After my initial experience and concerns regarding Templify’s subscription and billing process, the company reached a resolution with me, and I genuinely appreciate that they took the steps to make things right.
My original concerns were valid, particularly regarding the lack of subscription confirmation, difficulty locating subscription information, and the overall editing experience. I still believe there is room for improvement when it comes to transparency and communication with customers.
That being said, I also believe a company deserves recognition when it addresses a customer’s concerns and resolves an issue.
I’m grateful that this situation has been rectified, and I hope Templify continues improving both its service and customer experience. I wish I had read more reviews before spending my money on Templify. What I thought would be a convenient, time-saving AI video editing service turned into a frustrating experience that left me questioning the company’s subscription and billing practices.
INITIAL REVIEW
First, let’s talk about the subscription process.
When I signed up, I did not receive a subscription confirmation email that I could find. The subscription wasn’t listed under my Apple subscriptions, and I couldn’t easily find where to view, manage, or cancel it.
I understand now that subscriptions purchased outside Apple’s billing system may not appear under Apple subscriptions. However, that doesn’t excuse how difficult it was to find clear information about my subscription.
The email I eventually received wasn’t a friendly reminder that my subscription was about to renew or that I had an upcoming payment. It was a notification that I had ALREADY been charged.
That is what bothered me the most. Customers should be able to easily understand what they’re signing up for, how much they’ll be charged, and how to manage or cancel their subscriptions.
Now, let’s talk about the actual product.
I wanted to create a simple birthday video celebrating my friend’s 40th birthday. Nothing complicated.
I repeatedly asked the AI to move one photo to the beginning of the video. It couldn’t seem to follow that simple instruction.
Then it kept adding captions that didn’t make sense. One of them was “Dinner with my Boo,” even though the occasion was a 40th birthday celebration and the photos clearly featured our Chapter 40 shirts.
I kept entering prompts, explaining what I wanted, and trying to correct the mistakes. Instead of fixing them, the AI continued making the same errors.
What should have been a quick and enjoyable editing experience became an unnecessarily long, aggravating process. Eventually, I became so frustrated that I gave up.
I even gave Templify another chance.
Since I had already paid for the service, I decided to try it again rather than completely waste my money.
This time, I didn’t ask it to create captions or make specific edits. I simply let it put the videos together.
And guess what? It worked better.
But here’s my problem: I’m already a paying CapCut subscriber. I can put videos together, rearrange clips, add captions, and make adjustments myself using software I already have.
Why would I pay for another service that struggles to follow basic editing instructions?
I purchased Templify because I expected the AI functionality to make editing easier and save me time. Instead, it created more work.
My experience with customer service was also disappointing.
I contacted the company regarding my concerns and refund request. Andrew initially responded fairly quickly, which I appreciated.
At first, I believed there had also been an issue involving their 72-hour timeframe. However, after reviewing my phone’s gallery, I discovered that I had used the service earlier than I remembered.
Based on that information, I believe the 72-hour timeframe was met, and I want to be fair about that.
But the timeframe was never my only concern.
My concerns were the confusing subscription process, the billing notification arriving after the charge, and the product repeatedly failing to perform simple editing tasks.
I continued communicating with Andrew and was willing to give the company the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, he never responded to my last email.
I waited before posting this updated review because I genuinely wanted to give the company an opportunity to address my concerns.
Here’s my biggest issue with Templify.
I’ve since seen complaints from other customers who have also expressed frustration with the service. Reading those experiences made me even more concerned about the company’s practices.
I cannot speak for everyone else’s experience, and I’m not claiming that Templify is legally a scam. However, my personal experience left me feeling misled and questioning the transparency of its subscription process.
A company should make it easy for customers to understand their subscriptions, access their billing information, and receive support when something goes wrong.
My final recommendation: SAVE YOUR MONEY.
If you already use CapCut or another video editing app, I would seriously consider whether Templify offers anything additional that’s worth paying for.
If you do decide to try it, carefully review the billing terms, take screenshots of everything, and make sure you know exactly how to cancel before subscribing.
I gave the service multiple chances, tried to work with customer support, and even corrected my own misunderstanding about the timeline.
Unfortunately, none of that changed my overall disappointment.
I would not subscribe again, and I cannot recommend Templify based on my experience.
