About

Tessera is a hi-res music player for people who care how their music actually sounds — and for anyone ready to start caring. It plays your files the way they were mastered: no hidden resampling, no system mixing, no "enhancement." When your hardware allows it, audio reaches your DAC bit-perfect — the exact samples, untouched. — NEW TO HI-RES? START HERE — Most players quietly convert your music before it reaches your ears. Tessera doesn't. Add your files, press play, and see what's happening at every step — format, sample rate, and what your device receives. A good USB DAC makes it better; curiosity is enough to begin. — BUILT FOR REAL HI-RES — DSD playback: DSD64, DSD128 and DSD256 go native to a capable USB DAC over DoP, or convert to high-quality PCM if you prefer. DSD512 files play too, converted — iOS cannot carry DSD512 natively over USB PCM all the way to 32-bit / 768 kHz, at the file's original rate and depth — FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, WavPack, APE and Musepack Bit-perfect exclusive output, handing the clean signal straight to your DAC Audio Details: source file, output device and the whole chain — resampled or untouched, you always know Real-time spectrum reaching into the ultrasonic range, with a gold zone above 20 kHz — YOUR LIBRARY, EVERYWHERE — Play files you own, or stream from a NAS, WebDAV share or DLNA/UPnP media server — discovery finds it in seconds Tracks play while they download and the next is fetched ahead, so server albums begin instantly and keep going with the screen locked Apple Music, too: browse tracks, albums, artists, playlists and genres, and play them straight to your DAC Browse by Folders, Tracks, Artists, Albums, Genres, Format, Mood, BPM and Playlists — with fast search across the whole collection Pin the ones you keep coming back to — hold the artwork on Now Playing, or long-press any track, album or artist. They gather at the top of Playlists A customizable sidebar — rename, reorder and hide sections — SEND IT TO YOUR SYSTEM — Hand what you're playing to a UPnP/DLNA streamer — an amplifier, a speaker in another room — and keep the controls on your phone Music on a server goes to the streamer directly. Music on this iPhone is sent too, album art included, with the screen locked and the phone in your pocket Nothing is re-encoded on the way — this iPhone only passes instructions along Streamers that keep their own queue take the whole album at once and finish it alone, even with the phone locked or closed Everything stays live: track, position, volume, and the lock screen, Control Centre, headset and car controls — SEE WHAT YOU'RE HEARING — Format badges tell you exactly what's playing: "DSF DSD256", "FLAC 24/192", a gold Hi-Res badge for true hi-res files, and Lossless / Hi-Res Lossless / Dolby Atmos for Apple Music — turn each on or off Bit-Perfect is claimed only when it can be verified. When output can't be confirmed, Tessera says so rather than guessing — SMART PLAYBACK — True gapless playback for lossless and DSD — live albums and classical works flow the way they should Fade on Pause and Resume, so stopping and starting doesn't jolt — it steps aside on its own in bit-perfect mode, where nothing may touch the signal DJ Flow: reads the energy, brightness, tempo and dynamics of your tracks so similar songs play together in a considered sequence Mood and BPM grouping — your library sorted by feel and tempo Sleep timer, play-count history, and resume where you left off — DESIGNED WITH CARE — A Liquid Glass interface that stays out of the way of the music Choose one accent color, or give each section its own Light, dark and automatic themes — localized in 10 languages — YOUR MUSIC, YOUR DEVICE — No account, no ads, no tracking, no subscription One purchase. Yours to keep. You don't need golden ears or a wall of gear — just your music, a little curiosity, and maybe a good DAC. Tessera is for the recording, not the algorithm.

What's New in Tessera

1.4.13

September 4, 2026

NEW - See everything a track carries. Turn the artwork over and tap Detail for the release year, disc and track numbers, composer, album artist, ISRC, comments and lyrics. - Browse by Era. Formats now opens on a choice: by file type, or by decade and year. - Hold Previous or Next to run through the song you are playing. It starts gently and speeds up the longer you hold. NETWORK PLAYERS - Shuffle now re-orders what a network player plays next, without interrupting the song you are hearing. - Switching output keeps your place instead of starting the track over. - Handing a long queue over starts the music in seconds, with the rest following in the background. - Repeat All now reaches network players. COSMETIC - Icons across the library and the player glow in your theme colour. The artist name has moved to the title bar, leaving room for larger artwork, and the playing position on the progress bar is lit. FIXES - Text and controls could be hard to read on pale artwork in Light Mode. - Thai and other scripts were cut off at the largest text sizes. - The Apple Music icon was missing from the Library header. - Adding tracks to the queue while a network player was playing left that device circling only its first batch. - Folder lists scroll more smoothly, and network players are found faster.
