Tessera Layers

A mosaic is made twice. First up close — gathering the tiles one at a time, setting each where it belongs, deciding what to place next. Then from across the room, when the pieces you barely remember setting have quietly become a picture. Tessera works the same way. It's a hierarchical reference tool and personal journal for everything you want to capture, prioritize, and revisit — the scraps cluttering your desk and the ones cluttering your head. Most apps make you choose. A notes app gives you a flat pile and a search box. An outliner gives you structure but nowhere to live in it. Tessera gives you both: containers you can nest as deeply as you actually think, each one a place to keep what belongs there. The vocabulary is simple. An Emblema is a top-level space — a trip, a project, a corner of your life. Inside it, a Tessera is a tile you can fill and nest, again and again, as far down as the thought goes. Walk the structure instead of searching it; lean on knowing where a thing lives rather than remembering what you called it. Every tile can hold: - Markdown notes — the plan, formatted cleanly, rendered the way you wrote it. - A separate journal — kept apart from the plan, so intention and lived experience never blur together. Compare them later: what you thought a day would be, against what it was. - Photos — captured into context and owned outright, not lost in a camera roll of forty thousand. Photograph the receipt, the sketch, the whiteboard, the kid's drawing — file it where it means something, and throw the paper away. - Apple Pencil — for the things that resist typing. - Dates and time estimates — that roll up through the hierarchy, so a pile of small tasks becomes a number you can actually feel. When everything feels equally urgent, the built-in Prioritizer decides the next tile for you. Choosing between two things is easy; choosing among thirty is paralysis. Tessera turns the second problem into the first. Everything lives across all your Apple devices — iPhone, iPad, and Mac — synced through your own private iCloud. Your content is yours. It is never sent to us, never mined, never shown to anyone.
